  • There are options if you want something like Firefox without the AI nonsense like waterfox and librewolf.

  • I enjoyed Vivaldi for a bit.

But the second time I opened it to find my tabs, browsing history, and literally all other user data, gone... Months apart, with thousands of saved bookmarks and hundreds of tabs lost each time.

I never went back. Deleting everything is just completely unacceptable.

I never found anyone else who'd have it happen, but twice was a pattern I didn't care to repeat.

  • From the article:

The inability to video conference reliably [on LibreWolf]

Could someone elaborate on this? Also

I like my browsers to remember when I have zoomed in on a tab

If she means the browser remembering the zoom levels on different pages, this can be done IIRC by disabling resist fingerprinting in about:config and then installing the canvas blocker addon which is not as good as RFP, but for me at least has been a good compromise privacy-wise.

Out of date info! Have a look at this instead: https://github.com/arkenfox/user.js/issues/1775

  • Always wanted to like Vivaldi. Like the aesthetic options but it always feels very bloated a browser. LibreWolf with uBlock can be enough to be highly useful and it feels leaner. I do miss the old Opera with the Presto engine, sigh.

  • i love firefox and librewolf but ive been using vivaldi more and more since their no ai stance combined with the fact theyre not a us company is really nice. you can also add adblock compatable filterlists to the built in tracker too. just wish they enabled extensions on mobile :(
