Am I overreacting or is this just Sinophobia?

I was just searching though subs to see their opinions in immigration... holy shit, this is major sub that often has posts going to the front page. This is yet another reminder why reddit sucks.

Anti immigration politics cannot be understood without racism.
Ideals like immigration is going to change the national character is just another way to say some people are better than others.
Opposition to immigration is incoherent unless racism is true.
- I wouldn't say that's a blanket true statement.
  There is plenty of opposition to immigration that is racist, but there are also legitimate issues of immigration growing a population faster than infrastructure and housing supply can keep up, or wealthy immigrants displacing more working class neighborhoods to take advantage of power cost of living.
  I don't think blanket enabling of all immigration everywhere is a policy that would be a clear positive for the world.
  
  We live in a system where the planet is divided into geographic regions of violent control in order to maintain the extreme privilege of a very few people. It seems pretty clear humanity and the planet would be much better off without this system that enslaves and destroys them for the profits of a very few.
  I agree that in this context the immediate cessation of borders would lead to war, chaos, death, etc. But that's primary because it's an evil, garbage system to begin with. It's going to take much more than fear-mongering about open borders to improve anything.
- You should put quotes around the relevant saying, otherwise it kinda looks like you're saying the bad part.
- Marx was against immigration, because it enables the capitalist class to exploit the working class at lower and lower wages.

Reddit is such a fucking shit hole. Major subs have gotten really transphobic as well as of late. If only lemmy could be more popular so I didn't have to keep going to reddit for shit.

From the point of workers in the destination countries, any influx of foreign workers replacing local ones and put pressure on salaries to be seen as bad is 100% understandable.

There’s a lot of exodus from India and China, globally. Change is scary. An increase in visible minorities is change. Wealth inequality is climbing exponentially. Should they blame the Chinese? No, but it makes sense to them, because humans can’t really make sense of the difference between a multi-millionaire and a half-trillionaire (they’re both unfathomably large numbers) but they can tell the difference between having a Dunkin’ donuts and a Chinese grocer on the corner, and they can’t afford a house but they could back when it was a Dunkin 10 years ago. It’s not right, but in order to change minds it’s important to understand where they’re coming from.
Personally, I need to remind myself of this as well. The culture in the area is changing rapidly with a significant local influx of immigrants and they seem like good people who and contribute to the community and the economy, but I liked it before. When could afford a house. Change is scary.

Keep in mind that the post has 6k+ up votes so it's always guaranteed to get some low effort bot and psyop posters as well as the odd abominable person. It's just agitation. Look at the highly voted comments for how people actually feel.

This is stupid people not wanting housing to get more expensive.
If they were saying for these people to stay away BECAUSE they are Chinese, then that would be bigotry. But not wanting more people to consume the limited resources you are depending on is human nature and totally logical.
There's a serious problem with people engaging everything in bad faith to create targets they can feel justified in morally crusading.

  Chinese factorys absolutely have slave like conditions, even compared to the shitty work life balance of westerners.
  These workers live at the factory, they work insane overtime of like 70-80hrs a week, in the factories that employ Uyghrs they sometimes are trapped there against their will, while the Han workers get more freedoms because the government might help them if the treatment is too abhorrent.

  It's also not racist to point out that Chinese companies more often than not, do steal technology to create their own version for a discount instead of trying to make something new. This is a documted trend in their economy, and is encouraged in Chinese IP law.

That sub wasn’t like this a year ago. This is a stark tell that the sub has either been captured by bad-faith agenda mods, or is being heavily botted. Or both.

I have never heard anybody complain about Chinese immigration here (Denmark). AFAIK the Chinese are considered among the well adapting groups despite cultural differences.

Is that the europe sub that's openly nazis or the europe sub that's only semi-openly nazis?

- Why does country not wanting even more people, when they are already are having problems, makes them nazis? Why is it that Europeans, according to others, should prioritize non-Europeans over themselves? Make it make sense to me. Why am I obligated to take you into my "home", otherwhise I'm a nazi? We barely have shit for ourselves, we are not your caretakers.
  
  It's not necessarily a nazi thing to not want people coming to your country while there's a housing crisis. But this is r/europe we're talking about so they're definitely complaining about it from a nazi angle.
