  • Even on niche corners of the internet, the right can't avoid lying and vote manipulation.

  • You're fucking kidding me lmao.

I experienced the exact same thing (on a very small scale) from that dbzer0 community that was going apeshit banning anyone who gave them downvotes and talking about "anti AI trolls." It sure looked like they were batch-voting certain content, right away after it was posted from some handful of different accounts.

I never said anything about it at the time, just moved on with life, because it (a) sounds like I'm just whining about getting downvotes for my own stuff which was when I noticed it (b) would create accusations that I'm making it up (c) would create inter-instance drama (d) didn't even really continue within my awareness for any length of time I was aware of. But they definitely seemed like they were, at the very least, coordinating between a bunch of people to give out batches of votes to some content they wanted to manipulate in some way, and at worst, doing that but with sockpuppets.

It kind of makes sense. The same kind of mentality that even cares enough about this in the first place and feels entitled to cheat the system a little bit to make it kind-of-impossible to give their own content "incorrect" downvotes, would probably also feel entitled to cheat the system a little more to issue "correct" votes in sufficient numbers to make sure the voting totals for content they cared about were "correct" according to what they wanted.

"Try not to use any sockpuppet accounts on your way out" fuckin gold lmao

    Hilarious man.

      Feel free to bring receipts

      • It's a 100% fair question, I looked back for a while and couldn't even find the posts where this happened. Let me look more a little later and get back to you.

      • @eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com poking me claiming I'd been "caught lying" about something else needled me to actually look up what I was looking at back when this happened. Here's this post:

So what you're looking at there is what percent of the total votes (up and down) came from a lemmy.dbzer0.com account, and then a breakdown of what came in during any given 15-minute window during the two hours immediately following the post.

Having 30% of the votes come in from a single instance when the post was posted to a busy lemmy.world community is hugely sus, since the percent of Lemmy users who are even on dbzer0.com is so small compared with other instances. And then, that pattern of a huge influx of votes in one direction right after the thing is posted, with a ratio of up to downvotes (and a much higher volume in one direction only) that doesn't match the ratio you see for most of the lifetime, is often an indication of voter fraud or coordinated voting. It's actually even more tightly clustered than it looks like on there, those 7 downvotes all came in during one single 5-minute window of rapid fire downvoting, way more active than any time before or after that 5-minute window. It shows on the lemvotes page which is what the script that made that draws from. A lot of Reddit voter fraud was based on sort of "painting the tape" right when something was posted -- people tend to upvote what's already upvoted and downvote likewise, and it'll have a corresponding impact on putting it in front of people or hiding it from them respectively.

For reference if you want to see, here are examples of what a more normal layout of voting would look like:

See? Looks different, right? Maybe it's just me.

      • Willing to bet we don't get any, as Phillip has lied about db0 before, and will again.

  • TL;DR: TheSilentNickel@lemmy.zip that's in OP's graphic isn't me. It's imposter account created to get me banned in revenge for being banned in my community. I've never had account on .zip and the imposter account has NEVER modded and NEVER posted to my community. Imposter account was created 3 days ago which is when my banning for serial downvoting really kicked in.

TL;DR for the TL;DR: Imposter set up account with my username on .zip was butthurt because they got banned from my community. Did sketchy stuff. Got me banned. OP (also banned from my community) thinks it's awesome, so posted graphic about it.

I'm not on lemmy.zip. "TheSilentNickel@lemmy.zip" that's in OP's graphic was never a mod of my community, and has never posted to my community.

    I'm on feddit.org and lemmyusa.com.

The imposter account on .zip was created 3 days ago...after I started to seriously ban people for serial downvoting.

See the previous discussion about this. It was discussed to death earlier: https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/53271052

@db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com this is just more of the same from the previous post in which i asked the person to disengage. OP's post seems to really be laughing at "getting me" (even tho my bans are result of an imposter account by disgruntled ban-ee). I don't feel this is a "power tripping mod" sort of post.
