lemmyusa 9/14 shenanigans UPDATE: the mod in question was just banned from several communities for vote manipulation using several sock puppet accounts.
This mod stated that they were the one behind the bans (https://feddit.org/comment/8930413)
So, a mod banning downvotes while using several sockpuppet accounts to vote multiple times.
User "threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works" is banning users for downvoting his posts.
The mod banning these users is the same mod who made the posts they downvoted. This is mod abuse, turning the downvote button into an auto-self-ban button.
The message is "If you disagree with me, you will be banned"
Monitoring and banning users for using lemmy as intended to signal boost your opinion should be grounds to have all mod privileges removed. This behaviour undermines the integrity of the server and the wider fediverse.
lemmyusa.com is engaging in vote manipulation, suggest defederating unless it is addressed.

The instance has 3 active subs, it's unlikely the admins are not also the mods engaging in this.
Banning anyone who downvotes is a clear attempt to foster a chilling effect on dissenting opinions. The mods and admins of this instance are putting their thumb on the scales in order to make their ideas appear more positively received than they actually are.
