This week's Surveillance Report covers a federal court blocking Texas's age verification law, AI police cameras exposed to the internet, massive data breaches affecting millions of people, and more...

Linus Tech Tips did an exposé on those boxes a few years ago
Introducing Hypermind: A fully decentralized, P2P, high-availability solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
I'm not the creator of this program, but its too fun not to share! The comments from the developer and users joining the swarms on the reddit thread are hilarious.
It's basically a decentralized swarm of docker users. It does nothing except tell you how many other users you are connected to. Some are in the tens of thousands, haha!

The amount of censorship on these smuggled North Korean cellphones is mind blowing

Well, New Hampshire is pretty wooded ✅
I think the vast majority of Americans love our society. We all just disagree about how to make it better!
We probably have the coolest state motto, haha!
You're right. There's still work to do!
Weed is legal for medical use, and a bill for recreational use passed the house this year, but it died in the Senate.
Also, there is legislation to cap property taxes at the rate of inflation.
It is. Broad-based taxes take money from everyone whether they use the service or not. With a user fee, the way to avoid paying it is to not use the service.
You got me! 🙂
All of that still doesn't change the fact that our workers take home 100% of their pay (from the state at least)! 🙂

No, the roads are great. My neighborhood was just repaved this summer! 🙂
Well. You have to start somewhere. 🙂
We have a big community on Signal and Discord, but Lemmy hasn't quite taken off.
Yep! There is a Liberty community on this server and several others 🙂

In general, Libertarians will support fewer taxes and regulations. So they are on the right on economic issues.
One key difference between Libertarians and Republicans lies in social issues. When it comes to LGBT issues, cannabis legalization, criminal justice reform, etc they tend to agree with Democrats.
For this reason, they don't really identify with one party or the other.
Well for two reasons:
Okay fine. We can discuss it more if you want...
The intent of the quote in both my example and yours is to say "don't bow to a king". In my case, the King of England, in your case the Penn Family. You are correct that the way it was expressed in your context was a state legislator refusing to give a prominent family a tax break. In my case a refusal to accept terms to maintain status as a British colony. Either way, the intent of the quote is to not give up your liberty for a false sense of security.
I think the "No Kings" interpretation is a good one, given the recent No Kings pretests in the US, eh?
The transportation infrastructure, yes. The local roads are maintained by the local cities and towns. The state highways are maintained by the state department of transportation. Funding comes from a combination of federal gas tax revenue and tolls on the major highways.
Government spending is all about tradeoffs. I'm sure there are other programs that are well funded in other states that don't even exist in New Hampshire.
You shared your interpretation and I shared mine. I don't know how going in circles benefits anyone.
Well, we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. 🙂
Not a joke. Here is a local news video about it. https://www.wmur.com/article/nh-house-pass-bill-vehicle-safety-inspections-0325/64080031
Thanks! This post went much further down the comment rabbit hole than I expected!
My interest in posting on Lemmy is to educate people on the liberty movement in New Hampshire (which cannot be done effectively with insults). It's either not known, or there is a lot of misinformation. People think it ended with the Free Town Project, but it has grown 10x since then.
He said it several times. For instance, he said it when the British Crown offered their protection and self-governance in exchange for not declaring independence from Britain.
Get off publicly funded internet! Stop benefiting from public funded things!
Publicly funded internet? I don't know about that. I pay an internet bill.
Go and be free! Like the town experiment that failed!
There is a great book written about the Free Town Project if you are interested in learning more. It is called A Libertarian Walks Into A Bear. I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the Liberty Movement in New Hampshire.
They discuss it at length in the book, but long story short, once they launched the Free State Project, that is where the efforts were focused. The New Hampshire Liberty Caucus now holds about 80 seats in the state house. They just eliminated Vehicle Inspections this year!
In New Hampshire we pay the federal income tax, but there is no state tax on income. In most other states you pay both a state and a federal income tax.
Several states in the US have no state income tax:
