Introducing Hypermind: A fully decentralized, P2P, high-availability solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

I'm not the creator of this program, but its too fun not to share! The comments from the developer and users joining the swarms on the reddit thread are hilarious.

It's basically a decentralized swarm of docker users. It does nothing except tell you how many other users you are connected to. Some are in the tens of thousands, haha!

The NH State Motto is "Live Free Or Die"

  • You're right. There's still work to do!

Weed is legal for medical use, and a bill for recreational use passed the house this year, but it died in the Senate.

Also, there is legislation to cap property taxes at the rate of inflation.

  • You got me! 🙂

    • Yes, our property taxes are kind of high. There is legislation proposed this year to cap them at inflation.
    • I don't think our Business Enterprise (payroll) tax is that high, but there is also a rollback planned for this year, from 0.55% to 0.50%.
    • We receive our share of federal gas tax, and we have tolls on the major highways which generate money for road repairs. That's more of a user fee than a tax, which is much better!

All of that still doesn't change the fact that our workers take home 100% of their pay (from the state at least)! 🙂

New Hampshire Has No Income Tax

  • In general, Libertarians will support fewer taxes and regulations.  So they are on the right on economic issues.

One key difference between Libertarians and Republicans lies in social issues. When it comes to LGBT issues, cannabis legalization, criminal justice reform, etc they tend to agree with Democrats.

For this reason, they don't really identify with one party or the other.

    • Less government in business = good!
    • Less government in our private lives = good!
  • Well for two reasons:

    1. When someone makes a blanket statement calling an entire group of people "racist fucks", I don't think any amount of reasoning will change their mind.
    2. The second half of their comment was "No one takes them seriously". Now that is a point I am willing to debate. When a political group controls roughly 20% of the elected seats in the state house and they have legislative victories to point to, I don't think it's fair to say that no one takes them seriously.
  • Okay fine. We can discuss it more if you want...

The intent of the quote in both my example and yours is to say "don't bow to a king". In my case, the King of England, in your case the Penn Family. You are correct that the way it was expressed in your context was a state legislator refusing to give a prominent family a tax break. In my case a refusal to accept terms to maintain status as a British colony. Either way, the intent of the quote is to not give up your liberty for a false sense of security.

I think the "No Kings" interpretation is a good one, given the recent No Kings pretests in the US, eh?

  • The transportation infrastructure, yes. The local roads are maintained by the local cities and towns. The state highways are maintained by the state department of transportation. Funding comes from a combination of federal gas tax revenue and tolls on the major highways.

Government spending is all about tradeoffs. I'm sure there are other programs that are well funded in other states that don't even exist in New Hampshire.

  • Thanks! This post went much further down the comment rabbit hole than I expected!

My interest in posting on Lemmy is to educate people on the liberty movement in New Hampshire (which cannot be done effectively with insults). It's either not known, or there is a lot of misinformation. People think it ended with the Free Town Project, but it has grown 10x since then.

  • Get off publicly funded internet! Stop benefiting from public funded things!

Publicly funded internet? I don't know about that. I pay an internet bill.

Go and be free! Like the town experiment that failed!

There is a great book written about the Free Town Project if you are interested in learning more. It is called A Libertarian Walks Into A Bear. I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the Liberty Movement in New Hampshire.

They discuss it at length in the book, but long story short, once they launched the Free State Project, that is where the efforts were focused. The New Hampshire Liberty Caucus now holds about 80 seats in the state house. They just eliminated Vehicle Inspections this year!

  • In New Hampshire we pay the federal income tax, but there is no state tax on income. In most other states you pay both a state and a federal income tax.

Several states in the US have no state income tax:

    • Florida
    • Texas
    • Washington
    • Nevada
    • Wyoming
    • New Hampshire
    • Alaska
    • Tennessee
