  • That will definitely be the focus. If Europe people can mandate making Android and Apple Ecosystems be opened to having real GNU/Linux or anything else they want to be able to be put on it then that would make huge changes to getting that to happen

  • Yes I meant some

  • Very true. Covered that in my post on Europe

  • What is the bottleneck holding Fairphone back from supporting Linux fully?

  • Ok maybe 8TB is overkill (or good for future proofing) but 1-4TB is a reasonable ask at least haha.

For me personally it would be for videogames (Retro/Gamenative for Steam & GOG/Open Source Android games), and shows/films I own. Also, for fangames, animation, and comics creation of projects I am making.

Rather have it and not need it yet rather than need it and not have it. Phone storage technology has been complacent for long enough now too.

  • I wonder why they don't want to, its not really in Fairphones to not do that

  • That too! I covered that in another of my recent posts on the Europe community on here

That is a big thing Europe can at least make happen and in Asian/African/Latin countries too.

I like your addition though that is all facts!! Let's keep pushing countries to make that happen.

To make them undo what Google is trying to do currently and what Apple does for long time to have all those devices be fully changeable for the OS

Needs to become a movement everywhere!!! Just as StooKillingGames, and the KeepAndroidOpen movements

We need a catchy name for it

  • Jeep doing and getting more people to do together in the EU and internationally with other people! Together anything is possible!

  • Please somebody make this into an indie videogame!!

  • Haha it does look like it now that you mention it

  • Can be exhausting at times but it can fun too. The more enjoyable we make it to get things done together the easier and less exhausting it will be

  • Sure would be the toppiest of tops!

We can encourage them to work together in their official communication channels too!

Would be good for both of them on every level. GrapheneOS learning to make their own phones, and Fairphone learning to make an OS while both being partnered

Edit: Be the change you want to see everybody!! Flood the gates with what we want!

  • That's true but you never know maybe in future they will. Definitely don't see them doing it now. It would definitely be a hop on the wagon moment for them

  • Europe @feddit.org

In addition to longer-lasting replaceable batteries I wanted to suggest some other stuff

    nucleovisual.com /en/The-EU-mandates-that-mobile-phones-must-have-easily-replaceable-batteries-from-2027./
  • They don't care, they have done it for so many years its a joke now. The only thing that changes things is people-owned independent alternatives. Let's all keep using and pushing for ourselves and others to use people-owned independent media, and social media

    Power to the people!!

  • Open Source @lemmy.ml

We should push other phone OEM's such as Fairphone and Samsung to work with PostmarketOS, GrapheneOS, and Ubuntu Touch

    www.extremetech.com /index.php/mobile/motorola-partners-with-grapheneos-to-bring-google-free-android-alternative
  • Let's push for it to happen!! Collectively we make it happen! Also, for more companies to jump on board. Imagine Samsung jumping on board to make a Linux phone!

  • Can you write a guide on how to so others can learn how to (I would like to know how to compile an OS)

  • Europeans should really push for that in EU. Then other countries and unions of countries can do the same

  • The more alternative companies/organizations/groups that do not do these garbage practices the better. Private non-stock unionized companies. Best if open-source hardware but that part would have to be community done

  • We really need more alternative private non-stock unionized companies in USA made to go against Big Tech

That's really what it comes down to. Better alternatives across the board

  • OpenSourceGames @lemmy.ml

What do you recommend I learn as a roadmap for Game Dev, and in Open Source field?
