I started having arguments online back on Fidonet and Usenet. I'm too tired to care now.

  • Maybe you're talking about the previous models? The platform starting with ID.7 is amazing. Yes, I replaced my Tesla with an ID.7. Two of my friends waited a bit longer and grabbed the GTX ID.7 Tourer model instead - now voted best EV of 2024.

The price of my ID.7 was slightly more than the much smaller Model 3, and way cheaper than Polestar and KIA.

  • I mean it's a lot cheaper to go to northern Canada or the Nordics if you want to experience 24h/sun (or night).

  • This was not in any way asked for or mandated by the party. Also, no, it wasn't common practice amongst other parties either.

(I was on the board at the time)

  • FWIW, when Christian Engström was voted into the European Parliament for the Swedish Pirate Party he voluntarily used a lot of money he could've kept for himself to instead fund party activities (which he then had no control over) back in Sweden.

  • lol

You're the one that claimed stuff not supported by the IPCC reports. Now trying to pin your random hallucinations on me won't cut it.

The world is not actively murdering us. That was your claim. If we don't cut emissions we will get into problems with changing growing regions for crops, need to move away from current sea level infrastructure and most of all we'll see wars raging when we don't allow people to move with the changing climate zones due to national borders.

Try reading the appropriate Working Group section instead of the summaries. You might even learn something.

  • IPCC AR6 is the scientific consensus regarding climate science, and no, it does not support your doomism.

    You've never read it.

  • Are you refering to IPCC AR6 as "one scientific paper"?

    ... and getting upvotes?

    I mean. Peak stupidity.

  • One of the outcomes from Russia's war on Ukraine is the knowledge of how to build killer FPV drones.

The rest is covered in the short film "Slaughterbots".

No, I don't know how anyone will counter that future.

  • I linked the AR6 report since you haven't read it.

  • Meanwhile, history shows that periods of instability and crisis can provide fertile ground for rapid, positive change. This is the other side to derailment risk.

The conditions for doom loops also provide opportunities to accelerate virtuous circles. For example, out of the crises of the interwar period and the devastation of the second world war came legal protections for human rights, universal welfare systems and decolonisation. More recently, the first Trump administration spurred new waves of climate activism.

    Great positive message.

  • Bit of a weird take. Yes, if we don't talk about global temperature then some parts will be cooler and some will be hotter.

tldr; Some regions will reach 3 degrees faster and some slower, by 2060

  • 5-6 - same with my kids. Keeping it up for too long risks making them religious as well.

  • My guess is that I'm the only person in this thread that reads the IPCC reports. "Maybe at the end of the century" is way different from "the next few years".

(PS: The IPCC also states that only half of the reduction of the ice is due to human emissions, so, don't go buying property at sea level regardless of how well we do at stopping said emissions)

  • To me? It's what you find in IPCC AR6. You read the IPCC reports right?

For stabilised global warming of 1.5°C, an approximately 1% chance of a given September being sea ice free at the end of century is projected; for stabilised warming at a 2°C increase, this rises to 10–35% (high confidence).

  • Oh I do. That's the whole point. This whole thread is about doomists screaming about what's not the current scientific consensus.

  • No, this is not the statement I refer to. Youtube link exists in a comment for all to verify.

  • Do note the article is about a comment in 2009 while I describe something from 2008. You would expect him to make that mistake once - not repeatedly :) Feel free to check the Youtube clip. The words "quick fact" are relevant.

Kagi search engine working with Russia

Swedish author and famous pro-Ukraine blogger Lars Wilderäng (Cornucopia) reports today that the Swedish security expert Karl Emil Nikka has revealed that Kagi is using the Kremlin propaganda tool Yandex as a backend for searches.

Wilderäng speculates this might mean search terms are leaking to Russia, while others worry about how Kremlin thus can get their talking points into western search results.

Security expert Karl Emil Nikka tells us that the search engine Kagi, popular among tech geeks, uses Russian Yandex, which was introduced after the full-scale invasion. This, of course, gives Russia the opportunity to look at what is searched for via Kagi.
