  • I guess it was inevitable (for multiple reasons). Fortunately, there are lighter flavors of Ubuntu. For the more experienced unwilling to spend their resources this way, there are always other distros.

  • Or the end of NATO with the US as a member. Nevertheless, Trump's administration hasn't been a good partner. It created conflicts with everyone, it destabilized a whole region, it cooked up a crisis that will last many months/years to fully recover, etc. Essentially it created a gigantic mess that will affect everyone on this planet.

  • Given we need alternatives, and the fact that Graphene is still Android, which is controlled by Google. I would go with Jolla and SailfishOS.

  • GitHub has been in a downward spiral lately. Codeberg seems to be a better home for “small” open source. Large open-source organizations already use their forge.

  • I would start with

    • Brave -> Vivaldi
    • Tiktok -> No Tiktok (wtf)
    • Kagi Translate -> DeepL

    These are the easy ones; then you can consider moving others.

  • Spain was the adult in the room in this whole mess

  • In fact, if they have the know-how, they should switch to something else. Android nowadays isn't much different from iOS, and I'm pretty sure that what was included in iOS will eventually land on Android too.

  • True but these things usually obey the rule of: "first gradually, then suddenly"

    And I wouldn't be surprised if many others are just waiting for the initial spark.

  • Regardless of age verification, europeans should definitely move to lemmy.

  • Fediverse already exists, with all its tools and instances (Lemmy, Mastodon, PixelFed, etc). It's democratic, as anyone can host an instance or join an instance where they are accepted.

    We don't need more centralized copycats.

  • I approve the "Cory Doctorow's law".

  • Not worth it. It could be as cheap as Southeast Asia and there would still be way better places to go.

  • I believe this has become quite evident. In the last few weeks we've heard it from voices from inside and outside the US administration. The question is, what does Israel have on Trump to keep this kind of leverage?

  • MySQL is dead

  • At this point in time, that's the wise thing to do.

  • After mistreating all of his allies, after humiliating Ukrainians in the Oval Office, and after saying he already won this thing multiple times, he keeps requesting others to take risks for him.

    Other countries should wait for his navy to get there first before risking their ships and people.

  • What a clown

  • Infantino can thank this year's FIFA Peace Prize awardee. Curious to know who's going to receive it next year. Putin? Kim?

  • Showing who they really are...
