  • Honestly I hope they don't. There are still talented people working and creating games, not always the best ones, but still. And they own lot of beloved franchises. Bankrupt would be the worst case. If they go down, then I hope another company (Tencent?) will buy Ubisoft.

  • This is the way.

  • Still Google? What a noob. A real researcher would recommend Ai.

  • Generative Ai is Among Us.

  • Yes, Linux based operating systems have still many issues. So does any other operating system. No one said a Linux based operating system is perfect. In fact, Windows has more issues than Linux, that is why people switch.

  • I have two different views and explanation what could have happened. Choose one. :D

The only benefit of doubt I can give Linus with this choice is, because its praised and recommended a lot. And that Linus is tackling this from a end user perspective who is searching the web and ChatGPT recommendation, coming of fresh from Windows without Linux experience. We all know Linus has Linux experience, but he might go the unexperienced route as a guide. And none of the websites doing these recommendations talk about the transitional phase PopOS is in right now.

But if I assume "bad" intentions, then he very well have made a risky choice by choice. Because he knows the other two will have good experience and then almost nothing controversial would happen = boring video, no interactions in the comment. He might have chose PopOS to boos his channel, not because he really really want to try PopOS again after he got burned so hard last time...

  • Off course he picks PopOS, because it bite him before. And off course PopOS is currently under a huge desktop environment change.

  • As I remember the original author said something in the past after they settled, to his satisfaction. We can only assume he got money, as no details was public. But at least the original author said he is satisfied.

  • We already have that: Microsoft Edit: Microslop

  • No, because they don't have anything else. They only get age or in some cases, just the information if you are 18+ or under 18. They don't know where you are.

  • It is not about your ID, it is about age. You should read those bills. An operating system has to accept an age the user is able to freely type in, no ID verification is done. So much false information.

  • Which is not an issue I think and definitely not a reason not to release the controller potentially months ahead.

  • I don't think Valve has stock in warehouse already, I doubt that. They need to figure out pricing before committing. This is not a situation like Nintendo Switch, where they need to have millions at launch and more and be sure to sell them all. Also other companies get better deals and probably Valve needs to wait, or pay more to have higher priority to build them.

  • What "ID nerfed"? The laws are not about ID verification, so I am not sure what you are talking about.

  • One vague rumor suggested

No source? Who is that person? So nobody needs to listen to it. It's a rumor, vague, from a single source and just a suggestion (sounds like an opinion rather than deep analysis). My point is, nobody knows and nobody can make predictions what will happen. Everyone has their opinion.

  • I'm a bit surprised that the Steam Controller might end up released later too. It does not have a builtin memory (or maybe to save settings?) and is not that expensive and big, therefore easier to produce and send in mass. Also releasing it early might also free up some production space and work for later when the Machine and Frame are released.

  • How to pre-order, if Valve even does not know what price the machine will end up? At the time of sending the machines, the price could go up for Valve very high and people have pre-ordered for wrong price. That means everyone who pre-ordered would get a price hike and in general a bad publicity. Pre-ordering anything is a bad thing if you don't know the end product well. And combine it at these high prices in uncertainty times like these...

Valve should not make any promises or pre-orders right now. It would be the wrong thing to do.

  • But that is still preferable over no vouchers. The point is, that the machine gets more expensive because of the vouchers, so that Valve does not pay from their own pocket. This way the system gets more expensive for those who don't want to use it for gaming and have less incentive of buying it. And for the gamer, they would buy games anyway, so its not a big deal.

The only problem with that is, that the system gets more expensive and that is bad.
