  • i dont think you understood OP's question and underlying points. the point of the question is about getting a working link out of a closed instance link ending up on search results, yes you could do what you just said but OP is talking about a faster and easier way to simplify that process for search engines to give back that working link, at least thats what i understood, plus selfhosting just a search engine of threadiverse/forumverse like Sepia Search would be less resource demanding than probably hosting a whole Lemmy/PieFed instance just for that purpose, OP is suggesting a different approach or moreso wondering if its already a thing and just isnt aware of the existence of one

  • thanks! i checked out after chirospasm recommended in the other comment and it actually has most of these things, truly awesome to be able to also browse posts from other platforms in Fediverse and Bluesky from it too, i might give a try to selfhost it for me and my friends

  • I did read and no they didn't address this specific question, this is all it says about personal assistants:

    Tip 5: Open-Source Voice AssistantOpen-Source Voice Assistant

Say goodbye to Alexa and other voice assistants that eavesdrop and analyze your conversations. Instead, try a privacy-friendly alternative like OpenVoiceOS, an open-source assistant developed by an active community and runnable on a Raspberry Pi. This way, you stay in control of your data.

Are there Fediverse alternatives to Facebook I can try convincing friends to jump over to?

  • I'm new to the Fediverse and am astonished when I see Facebook icon or direct mention but I usually see alternatives for Reddit/Discord/Twitter more mentioned, has anyone here used Facebook? Mastodon doesn't have events calendar nor communities or "pages"/alternative profiles to use for branding without needing separate account unless I haven't explored it enough then I'm sorry
