  • We ultimately don't know what is going to survive the digital revolution. I wonder what's going to be lost to time and what historians and archeologists will be able to recover and view centuries or millennia in the future.

  • and in a stunning failure of corporate communication

This is my main takeaway from this situation. Seems like the casino knew it was getting a deal too good to be true and CF went straight to strong arm tactics instead of inviting the other side to the table to discuss the issue and find a way forward that's good for both parties.

  • I got the sense he meant more that it would go up through business-side committees to double check the work and make sure it wasn't inappropriate. If that was the case that again would be an indication of corporations being risk adverse.

  • I listened to much of the interview on the radio. He touched on a lot of good points and then came to the absolutely wrong conclusion. He talked about how many writing rooms are "writing by committee" where jokes will go through a review by many different groups. If this is truly the case (I don't know) that is not an issue if the "far left mob" but rather the enshitification of comedy due to corporations and Wall Street bankrolling these productions wanting to ensure return on investment. This kills creativity by reducing risks. Topical comedy is a risky medium by default.

Also, shout out to Rob McElhenney for his sarcastic one word response. In Jerry's imagined world, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia can't exist.

  • I like to imagine op thinks the guy is sneaking in alcohol and buying an empty cup from the theater. The Texas man is pissed because he doesn't know what to do with the remaining 2 oz after he planned on their cup holding 24oz.

  • This is how I'm leaning too. If done appropriately this should be no different than "this is a reenactment of events" seen in 90s and 00s true crime shows.

The big challenge is getting the content creators to respect that template and not bury the disclosure in the credits.

  • If you're using it as a dumb TV, unless it shipped some critical firmware issue that prevents core functions from working (like HDMI input, switching inputs, etc) there shouldn't ever be a reason to update it out of the box.

I've used smart TV's for 10+ years now and figured this out of the awful experience from the first one. Never had any issues with the ones I've never connected to the Internet.

  • I feel like Twitter (I will always deadname it) was the beginning of the end for him. Unfortunately, things like this can take years or decades to resolve, but whereas 5 years ago he had the midas touch and could do no wrong now there seems to be nothing but a stream of negative news about him.

    Time will tell
