Ladybird is being built from the ground up right now, looks promising. Too bad every site under the sun bows to chromium and even when they don’t follow web standards they still become the defacto defaulto standard. Ugh.
I use Librewolf but have enabled firefox sync on it. Just don’t like the AI features in Firefox 150 and don’t need an in browser VPN. So far it’s been usable. I also use helium browser for when I’m feeling minimalist or a site doesn’t play nice with something that isn’t chromium.
Very level headed response by the Co-Founder/Co-CEO. Also yeah, probably reach out to them first too before publishing. Bare minimum professional courtesy. Love Mullvad even though I bought into the Proton “ecosystem”.
I wonder which agencies and governments have access? I’m guessing bare minimum NSA, CIA, and higher level clearances at the FBI and DHS. Maybe even some of the 5 eyes countries. Definitely Mossad, that’s a given.
I’ve been considering getting Fastmail for how feature rich it is. E-mail isn’t the place for E2EE IMO, but they support using it, they just don’t provide it themselves. If I need end to end I’m using signal or only sharing keys with trusted individuals.
Whose simping for Iran? I want both sides to lose, but the Iranian citizens to not be harmed. It’s two fascist regimes fighting each other tbh (well 3 really if we’re counting Israel). I’m on lemmy.ml though cos I’m an idiot and didn’t realize how this site worked, might switch instances.
True you lose the crowd anonymity of being on a server with thousands of others. But if sites go and ban VPN use or a state does, you’ll at least not look to be using one.
What about self hosted options for some of these categories? For search you could do SearXNG, for music streaming plexamp, jellyfin, navidrome. Maps I’d add Gnome Maps (openstreetmap) for desktop and tablet use, obviously not a great choice for phones.
Cool, then people will eventually realize they can easily use VPS’s with OpenVPN or Wireguard tunnels, or they can roll their own tailscale network. We’ll stop seeing VPN ads on youtube and start receiving ads for VPS hosting services and vloggers will post instructional videos on how to bypass Utah’s and other state’s draconian laws soon enough.
