    EDIT To clarify, as a proud debate pervert I tend to upvote people I'm arguing with just so our argument gets more visibility.

  • It's not exactly a lie.

    The value of the US dollar, in part, comes from selling oil in USD. Every oil source that exists outside of the dollar market hurts the value of the dollar, and sanctions on Venezuela have been encouraging oil investment and sales in yuan instead of dollars. That's partially where the inflation came from, demand for dollars by oil traders has fallen, which means stopping this leak.

    Although electrification continues, which also weakens demand for oil traded in dollars, and obviously there's Russia and the other sanctioned countries who don't trade in dollars. The age of oil wars paying for themselves is probably ending.

  • They track all purchases, and that means data they can feed into an algorithm to track typical hourly/weekly/monthly demand. If they know eggs are more in demand by X% between 7am and 11am then it certainly makes sense to charge Y% more during that time. It's all just math.

  • Yeah! Essentially all major corporations, using the just-in-time supply chain and lean scheduling, are already centrally planned. Any given Wal-Mart store knows what it needs to stock so that it never runs out and never runs out of space, the exact minimum/maximum number of people it needs to run the store, how to source everything, how much to charge for everything, etc etc.
