/u/outwrangle before everything went to shit in 2020, /u/emma_lazarus for a while after that, now I’m all queermunist!

  • Reactionary, feudal-revivalist speech in a capitalist system is "anti-system" speech too.

We have no interest in defending their right to speak.

  • For most managers, "pretend to be working" is their entire job. They constantly lie about how they're spending their time.

    You're making them look bad.

  • Yes it will, but statistically it would hurt older voters the most. 40% of voters 65 and older vote this way.

I'm not saying this is a good thing, I'm just pointing out that this won't help him as much as he thinks.

  • I don't think he can actually do that, but even if this works it mostly hurts older voters. He's eating the chess pieces again.

  • This is actually consistent: the function of borders is as global apartheid, the ability for powerful people to engage in sex tourism and exploitation is one of the intended outcomes. The purpose of borders is so that Michael Banks can solicit sex workers while overseas.

  • There are cis women with primary amenorrhea and infertility. They do not have periods, they can not get pregnant.

    Are they not women?

  • Naw I'd win.

  • traders are assuming that Trump will abandon the conflict before the economic toll of a prolonged war reaches extreme levels.

They don't seem to realize that Iran gets a vote on when this war ends. They assume that Trump can end this whenever he gets bored, but nothing stops Iran from continuing to hit US+ally assets in the region while continuing to restrain Strait traffic.

  • US capitalists want regime change so they can steal Iran's oil and resources, which would necessarily end munitions sales from Iran to Russia. They certainly don't want a war that drags on until the global economy collapses.

I think you've got the material interests of US capitalists confused.

  • So then why is it so hard for you to believe that US capitalist interests also pay them?

  • After their spotty coverage in Gaza, how can you possibly believe CNN puts out "whatever will get clicks and views"?

  • We have freedom if you can afford it.

  • It's not a mindless sort of belief - they want to believe. They're believing as hard as they can, because the alternative is ruin.

And this will only hurt them more, prices are just going to keep going up. Anyone who waits that extra week is paying more than anyone who already bought what they needed. The people who wait the longest will be hurt the most.

  • You're being sanctimonious again.

There are the people who agree that terrorism is bad, but want to discuss the things he had to say anyway. For them, you're just ignoring the premise of the thread with your oh so brave condemnation of terrorism. It's not that they disagree with your condemnation, but rather, they want to discuss him and the things they agree with despite it.

  • And you're so brave for condemning terrorism.

  • The government of Iran won't fall before they mine the Strait, and then it'll be closed without any further input. Then all Iran has to do is survive the occupation while the global economy collapses, eventually starving the occupation of the funds it needs.

  • It does, it's a networking event that helps people find each other and gets apolitical people used to the idea of taking to the streets.

The only way that works is if they go and do something that matters after No Kings. Unfortunately, people show up for No Kings and then nothing else, and then pat themselves on the back like they're fucking heroes because they went to a pep rally.

  • Because Biden loves Israel more than he wanted to stop Trump. That's why he decided to do genocide instead of win reelection.

  • What makes it effective? Minneapolis got Kristi Noem fired, what has No Kings ever done? What could it ever do?

An effective protest needs some kind of actual action to pressure the ruling class; labor stoppage, boycott, public disruption, etc. Instead, the No Kings protest is designed to never inconvenience any businesses or inhibit the functions of government. The ruling class could allow a No Kings protest every day and it wouldn't bother them at all, because it doesn't actually do anything.

No Kings is a pep rally.
