I dunno how you can draw a false equivalence between women fighting for their right to vote, and refusing to vote against an avowed fascist (who then won office), and keep a straight face.
They love Trump, because their oligarchs and their puppets have regularly praised him on Russian state TV since 2016. So no, no confusion. They know Trump works for them.

That was a great and also very long video. Subscribed.
By the way the video did state that the benefit of flouridated water is only a 10% reduction in cavities*, whereas people in this thread are acting like every Utahan's teeth are going to fall out immediately following this decision.
*But considering that comes with absolutely no downsides.. that's great, and it is still super dumb to stop flouridating the city water.
66cm x 42.4cm x 26.67cm and 152kg converted from old fogey to metric.
So yeah big and heavy I'd say.
AirVPN is great, allows port forwarding, 5 devices, and they run very good black Friday specials every year if you decide to buy it after trialling.
It wasn't unprompted - he was literally replying to the announcement of the appointment on Twitter. An announcement of a person he thought would be great for a role that he's apparently been advocating for action against big tech in for years.
He's born in 1988 you dolt.
The ugliest thing about Lemmy I've noticed so far is that it enjoys disinformation just as much as Reddit - as long as it fits the circlejerk, updoots this way.
Its also not against the posting rules of the community - so a rude response is is no way warranted 🤷♂️
The first? I would have thought that would have been his incredibly unpopular and badly though-out rapid withdrawl from northern Syria, which turned the close US allies the Kurds into sworn enemies overnight by allowing the Turkish army to attack them, and handed multiple fully-stocked military bases to (guess who) the Russians - all while he simultaneously declared victory over the very much not-defeated ISIL/ISIS.
But that's just off the top of my head and was in late 2018, so he had probably had major military blunders before then that im forgetting to be honest.
Worth reminding people that this is a guy who has admitted in interviews to owning a copy of Mein Kempf, had a cousin that gave him a copy of 'My New Order' (Trump's collected speeches in English) which he kept in his bedside cabinet and was known to his then wife and friends for many years. And that the same cousin used to "frequently greet him" in the 1990s with a casual "Heil Hitler"..
All of this was public knowledge prior to his election wins.
I'm sure the similarities in Trump's actions to the Nazi playbook are all just coincidences though right? And we're all idiots and hyperbolic for calling it out? That's what his supporters have always told me in the past, and what the right-wing media machine told them to say (Fox/Sky/Rogan/Shapiro/etc).
"Symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder and how severe they are can vary. People with the disorder can:
- Have an unreasonably high sense of self-importance and require constant, excessive admiration.
- Feel that they deserve privileges and special treatment.
- Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements.
- Make achievements and talents seem bigger than they are.
- Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate.
- Believe they are superior to others and can only spend time with or be understood by equally special people.
- Be critical of and look down on people they feel are not important.
- Expect special favors and expect other people to do what they want without questioning them.
- Take advantage of others to get what they want.
- Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
- Be envious of others and believe others envy them.
- Behave in an arrogant way, brag a lot and come across as conceited.
- Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office.
- At the same time, people with narcissistic personality disorder have trouble handling anything they view as criticism. They can:
- Become impatient or angry when they don't receive special recognition or treatment.
- Have major problems interacting with others and easily feel slighted.
- React with rage or contempt and try to belittle other people to make themselves appear superior.
- Have difficulty managing their emotions and behavior.
- Experience major problems dealing with stress and adapting to change.
- Withdraw from or avoid situations in which they might fail.
- Feel depressed and moody because they fall short of perfection.
- Have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, humiliation and fear of being exposed as a failure."
I wish I'd never even heard the name 'Trump' but I feel like I know him well enough now that 'all of the above' feels accurate.
Wakefield wasn't antivax? He's made two anti-vax movies now, the most recent anti-mumphs vaccine one 'Prorocol-7' in 2024. He's now lived in Texas for over a decade and is paid by various antivax groups as a speaker and advisor, reportedly as his primary income. He's been involved in multiple attempts to kerb mandatory vaccinations for school enrollment.
His message didn't get garbled - he's the one right there telling it!
B) he doesn't think it's a good idea, Putin does. It will destroy the US's soft power abroad for decades and will give the US's enemies/competitor states a huge leg up in developing nations. China and Russia have already been carving up any parts of Africa that the US doesn't have strong enough diplomatic ties to with asymmetric trade agreements that are sweetened with humanitarian or infrastructure-building 'aid' that's really loans. Expect that to accelerate as the US withdraws these programs and good will evaporates.
The modern anti-vax movement started in the UK with Andrew Wakefield, I wouldn't be quick to square the bulk of the blame with the US.
It's a global phenomenon of the gullable, the willfully ignorany, and the vulnerable (usually through personal loss or trauma) - and the fraudsters who wish to take advantage of them.
Ain't what happened.
Somebody: uses redundant "nobody:" meme format
Someone else: that was redundant, why do people do this?
Flame-baiters: quotes meme back at them
Shingles is apparently one of the worst chronic pains a person can endure. Adult chicken pox can be deadly.
Worth looking into if you've never been vaccinated against chicken pox. There are options for adult vaccination.
Or don't. Just don't say nobody ever warned you.
My local public golf course was closed and sold to developers a few years back.
Promises were made to the community of keeping all the trees and lots of green space, as there was vicious community opposition.
The developers have of course instead done what you suggest, and every house is crammed in next to each other just like every other new suburb. Its still in progress but it looks like once they're done you wouldn't even know it used to be a golf course.
This meme is so stupid because it doesn't present an even remotely possible outcome. A far better option is to keep the public golf courses for people to spend time outdoors and to provide homes for wildlife - and then remove regulations limiting building heights to encourage multi-storey development.
Build up, not out - because once green space becomes houses it never changes back.
Good idea. Pizza's not topical - everyone likes pizzas.
Here's the logo of one of my favourite pizzarias for you to use.
Imma quote from the article.
Abramson noted, “It is also a particularly American disease to confuse wealth with intelligence and corporations with those who own them."
Banned from News@Lemmy.World on my first post for 'spam' which it was not [UPDATE: unbanned & restored]

Hi all.
First, thanks for reading. I'm not exactly sure if this is the correct location to raise a concern about a ban/deletion, but I guess it's as good as any.
So:
- I dont know which mod it was. Log is redacted?
- post deleted & banned from the News@Lemmy.world community
- screenshot of modlog attached
- screenshot of comment attached.
- It was an appreciated post with 106 upvotes 26 downvotes at deletion and several positive responses yesterday. When I came back today (I'm in Australia so timezones..) the comment was deleted and I was banned - and several negative comments have appeared which I would have liked to respond to.
Original post: a news article about Proton Mail.
My post: Essentially I took the time to read the article and included the quotes of what was written by the CEO that was being discussed in the article - as many in the comments had surprised me by jumping straight to him being a literal Nazi. As not a single other commenter had included the quotes to discuss the source, I thought that would be a valuable contribution. I also gave my opinions which you can see in the comment on the modlog, the formatting is messed up so I included a screenshot of the (recreated) comment. https://lemmy.world/modlog/1347
What I didn't notice was that the article writer had omitted the first part of the Twitter post from the CEO in her quotation of him - so I quoted her, and in doing so missed the context that the CEO had actually started "Great pick by @realDonaldTrump" at the start - which does of course change the context of his Twitter post to praise. This was clarified for me in the angry responses. I would have edited my comment and owned my mistake, however stood by the rest of the comment regarding Proton's official follow-up.
So, is that deletion and ban fair?
Update 10 hours later: contacted a mod directly to see if i can find out more about the ban or perhaps get it remedied.
Update 48 hours later: contacted the entire mod team, and got back feedback from several of them - all helpful. My post has now been undeleted, and my account unbanned from the News community 👍
