[META] Future of the Instance
  • I really enjoy getting to talk to other people about quality content that I am also consuming, which at the moment would include other light novels, manga, and anime. Ideally, from my point of view, there would be some new comments to read and engage with every day. The scope of the exact subject matter for the server is not that important to me personally if the comments are interesting.

  • So you think the series is done?
  • I think there is a lot of opportunity to sell more books and merch if they wanted.

And this material is just so much better than some of the dreck that gets second and third seasons, both in story quality but also in terms of merchantability. The characters are memorable, the memes are strong, it's really an excellent property.

The next section, if it was given the proper budget and care, would be brilliant as anime; there are several scenes that I read and reread thinking about how you'd direct them. Lessy needs screen time! :-)

  • So you think the series is done?
  • The last episode sent mixed signals, I think. It both said that the story was over, and also (possibly as a last minute addition) opened the possibility of a follow-on season.

There's also a particular scene in the last episode that makes no sense for them to have included unless they plan to continue the series.

That said, it may be a while, and I strongly recommend the light novels. They're highly complementary to the anime and much deeper in their content. Starting at the beginning is best, but if not, start at the end of season 2. The scene where Ferdinand reads her memories in particular is so much more detailed, and season 3 skimmed across some important elements. The novels (and their translations) are quite well written and well worth your time.
