It's something for sure. My parents grew up in the third world so they are aware of imperialism and economic exploitation, but they still tend to blame illegal immigrants and lazy people

Yes, greedy thinking is the only thinking that creates societal progress, that's the reason why civilization only was created when capitalism was invented, no one has ever shared anything, and the USSR never become a superpower.

I haven't seen this in person but this is definitely still common. I've seen recently released movies that are still theater-exclusive this way (although on pirating sites not DVDs), it's funny when I see some random dude walk in front of the movie recording and get reminded that it's a physical recording of a screen lol
