transfem sysadmin that’s tired from working at work
Engaged to my lovely fiancé
Late 20s
Computer nerd by trade, not a programmer.
Thigh high socks are life

  • This sparks joy as a sysadmin that likes trains.

  • To be fair, at least with a lot of games I play, the task is usually persistently displayed on screen and there’s either some type/combo of guided navigation, quest marker or glowing thing highlighting the thing you need to do/interact with.

Then again, I still get distracted with side quests/shiny things but much easier to get back on task when the information and optional guidance is right there

  • Having the minimum wage be indexed to inflation was a really nice start for the provinces that have it.

Now, minimum wage STILL isn’t enough and there really should be another big bump to bring it in line with the average cost of living at the least. The only concern with this fight to finally bring minimum wage up to the average cost of living is that gives an opportunity for inflation indexing to be dropped with that minimum wage bump which would eventually bring us back to square one like how past minimum wage bumps were before tying to inflation

  • I’d still chase down ice cream trucks as an adult, I just want a tasty soft serve!

  • That’s so relatable, though the schools I’ve been to didn’t have swings so I settled for just sitting in random patches of grass or just playing with my own imagination if the mood hit some days.

  • That’s totally false that the community mailbox moratorium is just to protect the jobs of mail carriers.

Community mailboxes were a hot topic issue in the lead up to the 2015 Federal election with residents of the proposed conversions complaining about how difficult it will be to take more than one step out the door to get their mail.

With the Liberals promising a stop to the conversions, Canada Post paused the plans after they won the election

  • That doesn’t seem like an issue. If you require an expedited delivery of mail, then you’d need to pay for it from my understanding. I’d imagine its not much different from overnighting a package

  • While it’s at best a hazard for a battery to eject on an urban highway, this would be really bad if it happened on a busy city street or even start forest fires in rural/heavily forested areas.

I hope they go back to the drawing board

  • Yeah, that’s fair. I don’t really have family supports to fall back on and I just built up a small emergency fund for the first time so it’s not a serious consideration as much as it is nice to daydream about, especially since I feel like I’m able to also find routines and purpose for myself if not for my lack of independent wealth or support structure (beyond my partner that I wouldn’t want to just live off of)

The work-life balance has been a big struggle of going back and forth on getting to saner hours while also having a bunch of mental health stuff going on from not dealing with earlier in life and starting a job search since the company I’m at might fold. I know I’m not alone and I am in a privileged position having employment, but as someone that is easily overwhelmed and struggling mentally, the escape from responsibility is a nice thought in a vacuum.

I am starting the process of seeking help now that I can afford it, but it’s more “work” to do anyways.

I’m sorry for the wall of text, but yeah rationally it’s not wise to just not be employed, though it’s at least a nice daydream that’ll stay that way hopefully.

  • This feels so tempting to go down the widdle babygirl/puppygirl route since work is so stressful and exhausting, but at the same time it feels like it won’t be so fun after a little while because I like buying nice things sometimes >~<

  • Can relate. I’m the end of my bloodline as well- at least for my branch of the family.

  • Nobody in this province follows the speed limit, so on the contrary to most commenters and especially Doug Ford, I’d much rather have automated enforcement be made more widespread, especially in areas with higher road-related fatalities.

Also, unlike a cop being assigned to do random speed checks, speeding cameras dont have a racial bias.

  • After seeing some of the plushies shared, I’ll share mines too 😊

The bunny’s name is Cherry and the shark behind her is named Blå

  • So round, and huggable!!

  • This seems to be the plushie showcase thread now Hello Mr. frog! :D

  • Awww, that’s so cute!! 😊 I love her outfit too!

  • 196 @lemmy.blahaj.zone

  • The planes just wanted to give the twin towers a nice, big warm hug! :D

  • What I don’t miss are channels that put on Episode-marathons showing back-to-back episodes of a series. The multi-part episodes either air in the wrong sequence, or they don’t play those part-episodes at all.

Gotta love seeing a 3-part episodes with episode 3/3 to start, 1/3 comes next and 2/3 couldn’t make the cut in a 2+hr episode marithon.

  • I’m sure Dougie’s comments won’t empower more people to cut down the speed cameras again across the city /s
