  • Rest in piss 🪦🙏

  • How it started vs. how it’s going

  • The funniest part of this is the poster suggesting that dogs are not sentient.

  • Deodorant; the antivenom to the Fediverse’s own species of pit viper.

  • For applications that have a required a LinkedIn url field, most of the time they will accept just “https://www.linkedin.com/%E2%80%9C as a valid url. I have never had a LinkedIn profile and have been called for an interview after doing that. Maybe it’s a standard template for some job application forms and/or the employer doesn’t care about it too much.

  • There is decaffeinated coffee if you’re looking to reduce your caffeine intake but still miss the process of making and drinking it.

  • One black coffee in the morning on most days. Coffee doesn’t seem to affect me but it’s a nice part of my morning routine. If I’m invited to a cafe or offered coffee at someone’s house I might have a second if it’s not too late in the day. Throughout the day, I might drink herbal and fruit teas that don’t contain caffeine (or minimal amounts of it).

  • Some of your computers are horny by proxy. Contact horn.

  • Asking politely will go a long way in helping you get some Wookiee nookie.

  • The case was later dismissed due to a lack of probable caws.

  • “Alcophilic memes” has enough content to be its own community lol.

  • I would like there to be more activity in a greater variety of communities, which I think will happen in time as the Fediverse grows. The main thing preventing me from posting my own interests and creations is a (probably excessive) caution about sharing personal/identifying things online, so I’m not going to criticize others for choosing the same. More users also tends to bring with it lower quality content, which leads to the next point:

As others like @tal@lemmy.today (who makes a lot of great comments in general) pointed out, there are a lot of political posts which seem more interested in venting their own frustrations and parroting popular opinions than having a constructive discussion and being receptive to different opinions. There is a lack of nuance. It’s possible to criticize the systems and people you do support without it meaning that you support the opposition, and it’s also possible you admit when someone you dislike makes a valid point without siding with them. You could even see a question like “how do I resolve this specific issue with Windows?” and one of the top responses will inevitably be something like “ew, you should be using Linux instead” and while I may not disagree, it does nothing to answer the question.

I’m not bothered by the gender ratios since it’s not a factor in how I interact with others, and users here are pretty quick to shut down rare instances of hostility towards a specific gender.

  • High effort comment in response to a ridiculous topic. Love it.

  • Knocking up your entire neighborhood is an essential duty 🫡

  • Mint flavoring was added to toothpaste as a strategy by Pepsodent to make their toothpaste more appealing because it masked the flavor of other ingredients and the cooling sensation became associated with freshness. It became the default toothpaste flavor, but really you can flavor it any way you want.

I once got a gift set of these mini toothpastes in assorted flavors.

  • The article says the commute took so long because of traffic and congestion on the roads, so the distance itself might not be that far. It’s an unreasonably long commute either way though.

I could maybe understand accepting a job that far away as a temporary solution, like if you are eventually planning to relocate to that area and need to save up first, or trying to break into an industry with limited local opportunities until you get a bit of experience and find something closer.

  • WITHDRAW CONSENT (projectile vomits)

  • Lifestyle channels and blogs. This type of content is often very consumeristic. Unless it’s in an educational/informative context, I don’t have an interest in watching strangers have experiences that I could be having myself.

  • Recall—that is, how many users were successfully deanonymized—was as high as 68 percent. Precision—meaning the rate of guesses that correctly identify the user—was up to 90 percent.

I take that to mean there is a 90% match between anonymized posts and real life profiles for 68% of users and that it’s a minimum confidence level needed for a user to be considered deanonymized.
