What a piece of shit. If you don't have enthusiastic consent you don't have sex. You don't just take somebody's word for it that their drugged and nonresponsive wife is cool with you fucking her. Jesus christ.
This argument dates back to the '80s, so we're talking TOS & TNG vs the original trilogy. I would argue they're not even really the same genre. Star Trek is proper scifi. Star Wars is action/adventure with scifi dressing.
I'm biased because I love Star Trek. But also I like Star Wars. It doesn't have to be either-or, especially because it's apples vs oranges.
I especially like that line in Neuromancer because at the time he wrote it, his audience would've understood he meant TV snow. Meaning the sky was overcast, giving a gloomy mood. But younger people now will think of that featureless blue that modern TVs use, which indicates a beautiful cloudless day. Totally different mood!
I live in an exurb of Philly. There isn't specific walking infrastructure but the roads are walkable and I can easily take a walk for exercise just by going down my street. But I can't reach anything like a store or restaurant within a reasonable walk. If I want to go to the nearest coffee shop I need my car. Or I could try biking but it's hilly with narrow, winding roads.
Quitting my job as a secretary and finally starting college after an 8 year delay.
