I’m just imagining a not-so-distant future where there’s $200 set-top boxes that can hook up to any HDMI port and have a current-gen cloud console and a nearly fully functional PC. Or cloud laptops that have W365 bundled in as part of a 5G service.
My suspicion is that home installations will still be available at retail or OEM channels.
The subscription likely applies more to enterprise and possibly Windows 365. Enterprise licensing is a mess which might actually be simplified by a subscription pay-what-you-actually-use model.
Also it’s be cool to see windows 365 come to consumers as an alternative to a full PC. Would be able to standardize on home thin-client builds, or possibly add it as a feature to the Xbox Platform.
This reads like 60s era rules that never got updated. Hell it sounds like big puffy afros from the 60s/70s were meant to maliciously comply with that haircut rule.

If you’re watching weight, cutting calories from milk of all places is the worst place to do it. At least from whole down to skim. All the healthy stuff actually just so happens to be in the tasty part, the cream, since milk does these thing of mixing the ”sugar” into the cream in the form of Lactose. Cutting that out just leaves you with a worst-tasting, less nutritious beverage aside from the fewer calories.
If you want fewer calories but still have nutrition, soy is the way to go.
I never use them but I can see the point. Like when you’re poking around for a log file, not sure what it’s called or where it’s stored and just going on a hunch…but you’re in an SSH session and don’t want to deal with X shenanigans.
It’s a legit PITA to ls, look for files, cat/tail them, etc. sometimes you just want to ls -alR but your corporate build runs tmux on SSH sessions with no configuration so you can’t scroll back since your shortcuts don’t work so you have to pipe everything to more and it just sucks.
Most retail nut milk is actually mixed with a variety of gums and other texture enhancers.
Fresh, homemade oat milk is actually really easy to make by that process, but store-bought oat milk needs to have consistent flavor and texture/mouth-feel. So there is a bit more that goes into it.
This is also true of other non-dairy milks. That’s why I only use Trader Joe’s or Westsoy shelf-stable soy milk for making yogurt. No gums.
As a casual gamer, I like my series S, but mostly because of Gamepass. I don’t tend to replay games after I beat them, so game ownership doesn’t mean much to me.
That has the drawback, though, of needing a lot of storage if I’m working on a few modern high-end games, and the kids have a bunch of games that they want to play, too. The built in storage on the Series S is pathetic. The supplemental storage is confusing as hell and the proprietary drive that you can launch X|S games from is ridiculously expensive. I do really hate having to plan which games I’m going to play (and when) around download and copy times, and balance that against the games that I have currently and want to play.
Now, if the Xbox could easily be paired with a keyboard/mouse/4k display to be a fully-functional desktop computer while still retaining its capability as a current-gen gaming system? Shut up and take my money. What an incredible value add, and MS gets all the sweet sweet telemetry of a family computer.
My updated edit has an even better scenario that I just conjured up. Essentially bringing Windows 365 (cloud desktop) to home thin clients, netbooks, or even STBs like the series S.
The Series S (and its descendants) would be a hell of a versatile system as a cloud desktop with official licensing and support from MS.
I wouldn’t say it’s more toxic, but it certainly is a different atmosphere.
Coming from my curated subs on reddit to mostly browsing All-top on Lemmy, it certainly feels like Lemmys audience is surprisingly more authoritarian-conservative than reddit, despite the very active Linux, FOSS, and privacy communities.
CAFE should just differentiate by unibody and body/frame.

And get rid of paying your way out of your mileage requirement. Or at least raise the rate astronomically.
