  • I don't want to disagree but we also pay for public television, like a mandatory netflix subscription. You could say it doesn't cost anything to watch a show, just like it doesn't cost anything to go to the doctor but it doesn't feel fair to me to call them free services because they are not gifts or something like that. We also don't have free highways, free pensions or free education. If everyone would consider them free things you have the right to use because you are a citizen people will probably complain a lot more about taxes than when this people consider themselves taxpayers who organised themselves to get things done for a fair price.

  • I am not sure about this, but that first spike might correspond with his tweet of 'buy now' before he tweeted about pausing the tariffs. If that's true this is a whole less about secret information for his best buddies and much more about people blindly following his stock market 'advice'. Immoral either way though.

  • My MacBook is over 10 years old and doesn't get updates for years now, still works great. I ditched iPhone because of the high price and will probably not buy another MacBook when this one dies but I am really surprised how long they last. I do not run heavy apps or games so that probably makes a big difference but I can run 100 tabs and watch full hd movie without it slowing down cannot believe it. Also retina display and ssd so even after 10 years, if I were to replace it with a budget or midrange windows laptop tomorrow I don't think it will feel like an update.

  • From Wikipedia:

The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement is a federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

So they more like FBI than local police or state troopers, but I'm not American either so

  • I don't own any but my brother does and he swears by them when he's running or on the bike because he can still hear the rest of the world. He has a different set of earphones for when he is focussing or working or in his car (never heard of anyone doing that, but he prefers it so yeah).

  • 012345678 and 9 are what you call numbers, they make it easier for people to understand what you mean while also saving you time. WW2 is a character shorter than WWII, but this isn't a big of a deal because it can get confusing if someone writes it as wwii. When it comes to xixth it is also better to write as XIXth, I agree. And while 19th is only a character shorter, in this case it saves people a bunch of mega seconds of thinking an converting this. Now you might just really not like the metric system, but this has nothing to do with that. This has to do with why Roman numerals lost to Arabic ones: 012345678 and 9 are easier to understand.
