  • One of piefed’s cool features. I know you’ve been on Lemmy for a while. I moved to Lemmy during the diggexodus about 4 years ago, and bounced around instances for a while. Ended up on piefed because it has some neat upgrades and skips most of the political stuff. But it completely interoperates with Lemmy, so it works the same pretty much.

Anyway, I think it’s pretty great that you do the work you do with horses, and it’s super sweet. Where do you live? Like in the US or Canada or wherever?

  • Marvel paid an intern $0/hr to do marketing for a kajillion-dollar franchise at cinimacon

  • "GIVE ME YOUR ATTENTION"

if this gets tracked back to marvel, omg

  • awww ❤️

so, I wanna add a user tag, so is it "horsy dude" or "horsy lady"? "horsy person" takes up too many spaces

edit: nevermind. it's just "horsy 🐎" lol

  • oooooh, I see. sorry, I'm not up to date with your journey, but that sounds great that you're taking care of this lovely lady!

it's so nice that people are willing to do the hard work and put the care and love into animals who need it it!

    ❤️

  • although colorful, for once, I don't believe that this was one of Trump's clumsy attempts at gaslighting-- I think some staffer tried to coach him into dismissing this as some doctored meme (which it kinda was, but only a tiny part up top with the weird flying demon thing, not the part where he's clearly a messianic figure), and his fried brain got it confused.

but that's just my interpretation, and we'll never really know for sure unless someone testifies to/writes a memoir about it in a few years/decades or whatever ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • are you new with her? have you been with her much before?

  • I think most people missed this part--

clearly Trump was coached to say, "I thought the photo was doctored" not "of me as a doctor", but his turd brain is too cooked to get even get that right

  • one things that gets easier as you get older: realizing how most people (especially online) are very much not worth your time.

and, today, it's even easier to just keep scrolling than it is to just walk away.

  • Thanks for the heads up. There were some scattered services that went down last night because of a DDOS attack, and it’s nice to know that when this goes down, it’s just for maintenance!

Oh shit, we’re already into the window! Lol

  • well, it wasn't a 'sit right' issue, as I hadn't the chance to swallow it. I had barely begun to chew it before it provoked a response.

under normal circumstances with normal drinkers, probably, but I'm what you might call a... veteran drinker. I'm not one to puke unless... "especially provoked". for example, I don't puke from drinking too much (well, not for decades); I'll certainly pass out first, and that's after a couple of liters of whiskey over 3-5 hours-- after which point my tongue is typically pretty numb, so it takes a lot to break through that.

I will say that the level of my drunkenness it probably why I puked as much as did, but I wouldn't have puked in the first place had it not been for the foulness of what I ate.

tl:dr: the answer is that I don't think so, but it's possible

I will say this was long enough ago that, if I were to have a different reaction today, I'd have to replicate the experiment to find out, and I only have 750ml of bourbon to test it. if I remember, I'll wait till I finish and dab a bit of PB+mayo on my finger and taste it to see what happens ;)

Update: sorry, I fell asleep ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Oh, I have to disagree with you there. I was trying to make fluffernutter (peanut butter + fluff) when I was drunk, and accidentally made peanut butter with mayo. It took me half an hour to stop vomiting after a single bite.

  • Yeah, the article basically says, “the parents also had problems” without really elaborating too much lol

  • ok, so the headline makes it sound like a bit more than what it was, but:

A Phoenix-area high school pulled the plug on a planned on-campus appearance by Erika Kirk after a wave of student and parent complaints forced administrators to reconsider hosting the Turning Point USA chief during school hours, according to a new report.

Pinnacle High School principal Jeremy Richards sent families a notice Thursday announcing the event would be relocated off school grounds and pushed to after the final bell, saying the visit had the potential to create serious problems for the school day, The Daily Beast reported Friday.

still, glad to hear that some people at the school had the sense to stop this crazy bullshit before it started

Students were blunt about their objections.

"It’s a little crazy because I would never have expected someone like her to show up at a high school," one senior said. Another told local news the ideology she promotes had no place in a classroom setting and that the school could find far more appropriate guest speakers.

“I think the topics that she talks about are too extremist for a school. I think there are better representatives we can have,” said Francisco Sanchez, also a senior.

  • obviously, he's full of shit

  • oh, I agree with you there. But he can be more effective trying to accomplish his goals by stying out of the spotlight while Trump continues to distract.

  • True, but Trump is a moron (like Beeblebrox) with a cabinet of morons (unlike Beeblebrox), making the advance of fascism slow and haphazard. Under Vance, it would be much more competent, and we know that Trump wouldn't suddenly vanish. He'd still be a loud, obnoxious asshole, hogging media attention.

  • I'm seriously worried that, with JD Vance as president, the Project 2025 White Nationalist Neo-Nazi conversion of the US would hit full-turbo without Trump's total incompetence holding it up.

  • another good point
