  • Regarding your "example': That's new to me, being a German. in this broad way the statement is wrong, i suppose. ChatGPT confirmed this. there is no law against denying the right of Israel to exist. It is only true that German politics has ever since Second World War felt a historical responsibility to support Israel against antisemitism.

  • Cool, keep me posted on your success and on your experiences / ideas for improvement of the concept!

  • I just searched for your username, supersquirrel , because I missed your posts on Ukraine. Then I realized that your question post, asking why the previous post had been removed, was removed too... Then I found this here.

I hate the intolerance that I have seen before by a moderator on Mastodon, too, against an active poster. I think it is damaging the fediverse and of course productive democratic exchange. But it seems to lie in the nature of the fediverse, as s number of users commented. :(

Anyway, supersquirrel, I really want to get my daily dose of updates from Ukraine. Is there another place where you will post your interesting information? I would be very happy not to have to go back to reddit!

  • My chosen, tender way to motivate non tech people to leave big Tech platforms for the fediverse is to post sth nice (nice pics, family info,...) on Friendica, Pixelfed or Lemmy, and then paste the link on Facebook, so that my Facebook friends see it, like what they see, get curious what's that strange platform they had never heard of, register.

Problem 1: Sometimes FB shows the linked posts picture, sometimes it doesn't. Problem 2: Some instances deactivate that content can be shown by external platforms like FB.

So far I did it three times; 1 (my friendica instance) didn't show the pic though. So far, the success count is still on 0. But I still hope it will work :)

  • Thank you for the hint on the article and your points regarding my question! Regarding Matrix : yeah, also other guys here pointed me at that. Good to know better now ; before I thought it was part of fediverse. now I know that fediverse is basically defined by some level of communication via ActivityPub.

  • Just checked with AI. You're right; I had a different understanding of tje word famous. English is not my mother language. Sry for the wrong statement then!

  • Thank you for your input. I was fearing right that; that for having the full functionality you need a native account for the respective service (in most cases). But it is not very problematic for me. I just didn't want to do a complete stupidity by opening five accounts instead of using just one. Thanks again!

  • Do you mean on another instance? Interesting idea. But why do I need to do it in advance? In case my instance suddenly disappears I can make a new account only then.. Or not?

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

How many accounts should I have for the fediverse?

  • well explained, thx for the info!

  • supersquirrel, If you switch to another community, let me know, please. I strongly dislike deleting harmless comments , especially without giving reasons or reacting to questions. And I still want to read your posts on UA.

  • Sounds cool. Can you also mark all posts as read, perhaps filtered by what is currently displayed or by date? goal: hide all old stuff and only see the latest stuff in an inbox style. (i am using lemmy with Voyager atm; wondering how it is with piefed).

  • 💯👍

  • ah, maybe. thx for hinting at this possibility.

  • Who is more famous in Germany; Micaela Schäfer or Dorothee Elmiger? I would say the winner of the German book prize 2025. You would probably pick the 'model',because more people know her. Fame is not objective. Well, it is not relly important here anyway.

  • 💯 exactly. Question remains: what is the consequence of this detailed (and in my eyes correct) analysis? Well, maybe this very generalized discussion goes too far beyond the concrete case. But those questions have been on my mind too for a few months; Is the fediverse good but too complicated for this world?

  • He posts mainly on Facebook, and copies some posts to bluesky and (up to now) to Mastodon, to support big tech alternatives. Also on FB you will not find anything that you "would expect to get moderated on a .world server". He is very balanced and respectful (but also very clear) in his posts on complicated topics, as I must grant him, even if I do not always agree with him. It is a significant loss for the fediverse to lose a German top author. Fediverse needs those accounts to attract normal users.

  • Fediverse @lemmy.world

Mastodon.world cancels famous German author Kazim's posts - now he left Mastodon completely
