  • Expect a lot of biotech papers authored by Chinese geniuses that are incomprehensible to anybody. None of the limitations on other high-tech fields (such as semiconductors) in China apply to biotech. In fact, they have some key advantages, like regional clinics that get hooked into public insurance & end up with gargantuan datasets. This will only get better as medicine is less centered around China's east coast, but for the time being that bottleneck has some upsides too.

  • Usually pretty normal but I have a problem where I look at something & start relating it to other things & then like 30 seconds later I am thinking about war crimes. It was already bad before 2023. Most vivid images I have ever "seen" & they can happen while driving. It reminds me of how I used to be more imaginative as a child. Except that was fun.

    I have been limiting coffee intake which helps but I do kind of enjoy being pissed off & constantly visualizing maps so sometimes I do it on purpose which leads to Deliberate Site Vandalism since I can't direct that energy at anyone around me.

    So I guess I also have two mode. Snide narrator who is very uncharitable to me & The Visions.

  • Mhm I have a stalled automation project where my bookmarks in Firefox get synced with communities on here, as well as a few posts per day from valuable rss feeds. I am kind of hung up on some stuff like better markdown tool & an offline-online buffer thing so when I log a bunch of shit I want to post offline it posts them slowly over the course of the next dsy. Idk I added a lot of computer projects but I'm gonna prioritize RSSHub (which is good at scraping) etc next. Gonna have a Nitter instance putting all of the state media & foreign embassy websites & twitter accounts into their respective communities. Once I get that set up I will continue to make aggravating manual posts. For some reason doing this has made people stop accusing me of being an LLM. Reverse psychology.

    After that I'm gonna set up something similar to the Mastodon Delta Chat bot (if at all possible) that combines all inboxes into a CLI program that you can reply back to, similar to putting all your accounts' RSS feeds in one folder.

    Also it keeps me from accidentally voting on the same thing multiple times. Or downvoting people, which is reddit behavior. You should shred people with replies alone. Is that too much information. Multiple accounts is mainly so when I search by account I don't have to sort through all of the idiot posts I make which are now compartmentalized

  • Stores are always going to be capable of corroborating your presence with your card purchase, it's how they get many longterm shoplifters. Back when I lived in the states a lot of people around me got nabbed lifting but using cash + low profile in work clothes + look smart (Just Be Asian) + blind spots + small yields never failed me. You also have to watch out for your license plate being available to them. I would imagine now you have to walk to retailers for thoroughness, account for flock etc

    Of course, none of this really matters versus being one of many. They have a scale problem. Who knows how much AI can cut it down to size. Gonna be more hungry people
