AOC doubles down on political loser

  • Most people want food, healthcare, education, and housing but not to the extent of the left. It would require very high taxes to pay for them. A high minimum wage doesn't work. . California passed a $20.00/hr. minimum wage law for fast food workers. The result was that employers hired less workers.

  • The economy is always the top issue in any presidential election. Most Americans will not want a leftist economic policy. It will certainly mean high taxes in order to pay for all the social programs.

  • Republicans in the House rejected the bipartisan immigration bill at the urging of Trump, but Biden was told by Republicans that he could stop illegal migrants using executive order, but Biden refused.

  • No, Trump won because his opposition was senile Biden who took too long to drop out. Hitler came to power because the democratic Weimar Republic could not control inflation, something which Biden also couldn't do. Hitler like Trump is a great speaker.

  • If Democrats want to win, they have to move further right. Jason Crow would make a better Democratic candidate than AOC. Not only because of his moderate views but because he was an US Army Ranger. In contrast, AOC was never in the US military. If she is the Democratic Presidential candidate, she would be running against J.D. Vance who was in the US Marines.

  • Are you saying that only certain views are allowed on lemmy.ml? How would you learn anything if everyone in the group thinks the same? The psychological term is called groupthink and leads to poor decision making.

  • No, if Americans are abandoning the center, Trump's popularity would be soaring. Democrats should move to the right not far right. Merz of Germany adopted tough immigration views, but they were not as extreme as that of the AFD.

  • No, Democrats has to attract voters with a centrist view because these are the largest block. Note that in Germany and Romania the centrist candidate won. Most people do not have extremist views.

  • Trump's threats of tariffs appealed to Americans to thought that jobs are going overseas. The Democratic policy should be to restrict tariffs to protecting strategic industries and in response to countries which put tariffs on American products.

  • Biden had an open border policy and Harris foolishly said that she wouldn't have done anything differently than Biden despite polls showing that Americans wanted more border security. Harris would have been smart to do want Merz of Germany did; adopt a tough immigration policy in order to undermine the appeal of the AFD.

Democratic Party Scrambles to fix image

  • Crockett like AOC will not have nationwide appeal. Like AOC she might be a good speaker, but her views are too far to the left. Democrats need a centrist such as Andy Beshear. David Hogg is not strong with the Force. In this case, "strong with the Force" means a person who can perceive what people want. Trump is very strong with the Force. Some people might say the dark side of the Force but a person with the Force whether dark or light will defeat a person who doesn't have the Force at all.
