  • I don’t really like this kind of writing, picturing a black hole as a living object: „woke up from its slumber“, „Imagine a bear going back into hibernation“, etc.

    A black hole doesn’t do anything any other mass wouldn’t do. It’s not „active“, it’s not „devouring“ or „gobbling“ anything.

    Things fall into it the same way things fall into the sun or on earth. If you’d replace the sun with a black hole of the same mass, yes, it would get very cold and dark in the solar system, but nothing else would change.
