  • Germany has a rough working culture? Where do you get this from? In some unions full-time equates to only 35 hours a week, and we commonly have 30 days of vacation. And our working culture is nothing at all like in the US. We have very good employee protection rights and unlimited sick days. And currently I am working in the public sector, where I can choose to work only 4 days a week (with 80% of the pay, ofc). It is really great.

  • Wouldn't say China is 'dead against' the EU. China just does stuff which benefits them the most, I wouldn't say they have an inherent resentment towards the EU. And unlike the US, I believe China sees that the EU is a viable partner economically and that they would do themselves a disfavour if they were damaging those relations. Something the US doesn't understand, they just continue to isolate themselves further and further and suffer the consequences.

  • I'll never understand billionaires. They are so fckn obscenely rich, they can literally buy anything they want. And yet they do everything to squeeze yet another million out of the populace. A million that LITERALLY doesn't change their lifestyle. A million to them is like how a cent is to us. Prolly even less. They literally are pure evil, otherwise I can't explain why they try to make life harder for us normal folks although they already have everything.

  • Found the US-American. Go vote Trump or whatever it is y'all do over there lol.

  • Until the billionaires decide to move there and oust you because the rest of the planet has been made uninhabitable due to climate change lol

  • I keep reading comments how high the cost of living has gotten there

  • That's pet cruelty

  • US companies of course

  • Don't worry. Pedonald will keep bombing Iran so that he has an excuse to keep the sanctions against Russia lifted, so that they can keep selling their oil which helps their economy.

  • Didn't know millionaires are on Lemmy lol

  • Let's see. Making tobacco illegal means the black market will florish. And then the government can't regulate the quality. Kinda what we already have with Cannabis. A lot of countries legalize Cannabis so that buyers can be sure it is of proper quality and not mixed with dangerous substances. Yes, smoking is bad and that's why it should be expensive in order to discourage people from smoking. And a lot of public spaces should be smoke-free as well so that non-smokers are affected by smokers as little as possible. Banning something completely can go fully in the opposite way, just look what the Prohibition back in the US did with regards to Alcohol.

  • What's wrong with Javascript

  • Wait you pay that much in taxes in the US? I thought the silver lining of living in the US means lower taxes compared to countries with social security systems and universal healthcare.

  • In other news: Today somewhere on earth it rained.

  • Yeah he's gonna throw nukes at some point

  • Nah, this is impossible

  • Yeah but the food isn't free. And good luck finding a job, any job basically, in this recession. Can't blame people choosing the military when the alternative could mean homelessness.

  • Sold their soul? Not all of them, I bet. With the US economy being in a recession (if you factor out the AI companies which all they do is move money between each other in a circle). There are constantly layoffs and noone is hiring. I can imagine a bunch of people choosing the military so that they can at least pay their bills / debt from college. Having a job in the military beats being homeless, I guess.
