Senior who worked for the US Army primary Standards lab for 30 years.

  • Yes to building societies. But like credit unions do your research before joining.

I didn't know whether to mention them because they don't exist everywhere. And they had some scandals a while back. I'm not current about their situation in all the different countries that operate them.

  • Like any other service company they can go down hill. Also wall street and the banking industry. HATE them because they giver better service at a lower cost. The for profit finacial industry keep getting laws passed to lock credit unions out of sectors.

Plus you should always check their health scores. https://www.depositaccounts.com/banks/reviews.aspx

I belong to three different ones, they all have plus and minus.

Some belong to the credit union coop and you can access your account all over the country.

Some have really great rates on CD's.

Some have International reach, and great phone support, like the Navy credit union

  • Blue states have been carrying the red one for decades.

It's kind of interesting how we know what economic models work, but we just deny reality because "freedom".

  • I never understood why people keep using banks when credit unions are available.

Banks are predatory, credit unions are not. You are doing business with someone who wants to hurt you, maybe you should stop.

  • Where did you get that out of what I wrote?

That shipment was Iran’s payment to Russia, for Russian help targeting usa troops and help shooting down USA planes.

Just as china is getting oil from Iran to provide similar services.

  • It's insane that russia is helping iran target usa troops, the casualty count is going up, and trump is still licking the crude from between putin's butt cheeks. Putin is actively trying to make sure trump fails in Iran, and trump still wont turn against him.

The republicans are going to lose the midterms and probably impeach trump again. But nothing will make him defy Putin.

That must be one hell of a kompromat they have on him.

  • What with the "WE" part?

    I've never used it.

Only lawyers and people with an MBA say shit like that. The rest of us just call it being a greedy predatory prick.

  • Impressive that they hit something so far away.

But interesting that Iran is still supplying drones and parts to russia when we supposedly have pulled their fangs.

Very much a gauge of how bad a job trump and Hegseth are doing. They should have been the ones to hit that boat. But then daddy putin would be angry with them.

  • bullshit. No business just leaves a giant open empty space under it.

Which airport is it, and is it just being built?

  • i wonder what it smells like.

  • Ummm.... isn't that called a dictatorship?

  • Easy for you to say.

But I've developed a fear of uncooked lettuce.

  • Well, not that quietly.

After all it's all over the news and the socials.

  • Oh dear, he is going to be really upset later this year when they make sure he has less.

  • If you don't like my source then site one of your own. The loss factor for electric transmission and generation are well known.

But if you want better sources here is one. "More than 60% of energy used for electricity generation is lost in conversion"

    https://www.eia.gov/todayinenergy/detail.php?id=44436

if the article is showing any bias i'd say it was pro induction. I saw nothing that says funded by the fossil fuel.

  • Some of us actually subscribe to consumer reports. And I read the article when it first came out.

But here it is for you:

    https://www.consumerreports.org/appliances/indoor-air-quality/is-your-gas-range-a-health-risk-a6971504915/

Also just for the record i don't accept the "Not every study needs a control group". I worked for 30 years as a health physicist attached to the US army's primary standards lab. I reject your assertion that this study should be pushed in the public eye.

The people commenting in this thread seem more about pushing and agenda rather than evaluating a study.

  • "Or the constant fuel input required to run them?"

Seriously dude are you even in STEM? On a full grid-to-pot basis the gas and induction land in the same efficiency range, roughly 25-42% efficient, so which one actually wins depends on your local electricity mix rather than the technology itself.

    https://www.leafscore.com/eco-friendly-kitchen-products/which-is-more-energy-efficient-gas-electric-or-induction/

And nothing you have said makes the science of the study in question any better.

You degrade the credibility of all science and give fuel to deniers by pushing badly done work into the public eye.
