!linuxsucks@lemmy.world mod "Lemmy.world admins want to empower brigading. Well, they’re not cutting me a paycheck, and I don’t see reddit making rash noob decisions. - r/linuxsucks101"

  • Nothing right now I'm afraid. I will grab my 8bitdo later and test with an android tablet, see if I can recreate and figure out the issue. Expect a response in the next 6-8 hours, I'm afraid I gotta sleep, sorry.

  • Well, on android you have two sections of settings unfortunately.

The cog in the bottom right, and also the core options menu that you need to load a rom and hit the menu shortcut, probably L+R+start+select together on your controller, or the space invader symbol on the touchscreen overlay.

You can then go to core options > screen > touch mode which should be auto.

If youre finding things aren't as they should be, reset the app to fresh install settings using the inbuilt function or the android app (clear cache and data feature) under your app management and see if that solves the issue.

It may be a carry over from upgrading from such an old version, so a fresh start may serve you better.

  • Have you run all the updates under the online updater again?

Specifically controller profiles but preferably all of them, one at a time?

It's probably an issue with a default remap profile.

As you're wanting to use a controller with a touchscreen device at the same time, you may need to tinker.

What controller are you using specifically?

  • After some quick testing in RA you will want to use the MelonDS core, specifically titled (MelonDS DS), as opposed to (MelonDS), or (NooDS), both explicitly have a DSi emulation mode in the core options, accessible after loading a rom. My apologies, either I misremembered desmume having the feature or it's been removed/hidden.

  • What devices are you trying to run it on our of interest?

Are you tunning the emulator directly or running it through something like retroarch?

I've noticed RA has some settings missing on certain emulators, and lower end or older hardware can see a performance drop in comparison between the two options.

Apologies that I can't provide a more direct and useful answer.

  • I am reasonably certain DeSmuME allows you to, or perhaps even automatically enables the higher clock speeds you are looking for. On which host platforms this may be the case other than desktop, I do not know. YMMV.

  • You're going to have a few issues with the above, whilst it is possible to install an rpm package to Debian, like so: https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-install-rpm-package-on-ubuntu-linux

It's a bit of a niche use case and may cause other issues, I've never done it.

The other issue is that the broadcom drivers for that wireless card are closed source, which is antithetical to debians mission to provide an entirely open system.

There are open source reverse engineered drivers (b43) and open official drivers, (brcmsmac/brcmfmac) for some older broadcom chips but only supporting up to wireless N functionality, if I remember correctly.

After a brief scout about I have located the following: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/175810/how-to-install-broadcom-bcm4360-on-debian-on-macbook-pro

it appears the closed source driver package, wl, is able to provide support for one of two chipsets on the 4360 wireless card, but there is no support for the other.

If you have a phone that can provide usb tethering, you are most likely able to provide internet to your laptop that way and continue from there to install the broadcom wl driver, if it supports your chipset. The above stack exchange link and this arch wiki link should help with that. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Broadcom_wireless

  • I got in on the 72 hour early access and have spent quite some hours in hw3, because it's so beautiful and such a return to the brilliant originals, with all the modern bells and whistles. I'm going back to play more now, but seriously, this game is just fantastic.
