  • If you're in a union already, that is not something that can generally be asked about by management, both at hiring or during your employment. Being in a union is not the same as being in a unionized workplace.

When employees of a store/factory/etc decide to unionize, there's a point at which a specific larger union can be chosen to represent them (AFL-CIO, IBEW, Teamsters, etc). If successful, this is what allows for collective bargaining led by a union representative.

  • It is sad that this guy just can't let go.

Honestly though, if he can preemptively put sufficient funds into escrow dedicated to managing all aspects of the site and engineering plans for digging with minimal perturbation of each waste cell, then let him have it*.

(* Escrow amount should be approximately $780m)

  • To be fair, GPS apps have some limitations that can cause this at times. I'd love it if an early voice alert could tell me if an exit is on the left or right side of the highway or how the exit split is organized way in advance of it happening.

  • I haven't had to write in a news style too often, but headlines (from AP guidelines at least) are meant to stand entirely on their own and without context.

While I agree that language can and should change, the use of hyperbole, slang, or cliches in a headline can negatively impact the clarity of the headline, which is most important.

Does something like decimate or carnage have two widely accepted meanings now? Then as an editor, I would caution against their use in a headline. Something like "Hundreds sickened in suspected mass food poisoning at New Zealand university" seems fine and is without clickbait.
