  • Can you pull up the networking tab and see if you are getting any failed requests or errors in the console?

  • Can we write lemmy bots?
  • Yes. There are a few bots out there. And I found writing one pretty simple. I wrote this wikibot a while back in Rust: https://codeberg.org/asudox/lemmy-wikibot-rs

Though the code sucked ass. Anyways, I am currently making an automoderation bot for Lemmy. You might struggle to find good documentation for the API though.

  • What to choose between Lemmy, Mbin and PieFed, features-wise?
  • Mbin/Kbin is pretty nice, though it lacks mobile apps. I would switch to it if it had a few mobile apps, but we only have interstellar, which is pretty much alpha.

  • KDE Plasma 6.3.2 Released with Animated WebP and GIF Support for Spectacle
  • and a prompt that notifies users that WebP is better than GIF.

Why would they add this? As in like why would a DE do this?

  • Infos about how Lemmy works (technical POV)
  • I assume an account getting banned is the same as an account getting deleted?

Only if the administrator of the instance chooses to delete the content as well.

If they did, it will be the same as deleting the account with "Delete content" option set to true.

  • Proton has stopped using their Mastodon account
  • Posteo is good. Have been using them for 2 years now.

  • Infos about how Lemmy works (technical POV)
  • The best way is to read the docs, read code and experiment yourself.

I'll try to answer them, though:

    • It's hosted on instance A and B. Every instance creates a local copy.
    • Your account gets deleted. If you want, you also can select to delete your content (images, posts, comments, etc.). But since this is the Fediverse, it is not guaranteed that your account and content is deleted everywhere.
    • Iirc they do
    • The existence of the instance itself won't increase load, but the users on it can.
    • Your client asks your instance.
  • Some internet security addon blocking join-lemmy?
  • As far as I can see, no such request is sent. Probably a false positive.

  • How to Remove Accounts on p.feddit.org
  • Locking for rule 5.

  • *Permanently Deleted*
  • Locking for rule 5.

  • This seems to be a recurring issue.
  • We really need to stop recommending LW.

  • Is there a !remindme bot scooting around lemmyverse?
  • Iirc there is one, hosted on Mastodon. But because of federation, you pretty much can call it here.

  • Its not that hard!
  • Insert an asterisk there.

  • Petition e-5359 - Move Canadian Government off X/Twitter
  • I guarantee you, they'll go Bluesky if Twitter gets banned.

  • Do you need complete silence to read books?

I often find myself reading something on the bus or subway, but then not understand anything I read. This seems to be because of the constant noises. Not even instrumental music helps, as that distracts me as well and also does not always match the theme of the book.

The best working one in noisy places seems to be white noise, with complete silence being the best overall. How do yall handle such situations?

What actually happens to the communities whose instances shut down?

Is it still possible to interact with the communities (post, vote, etc.)? If yes, is it still possible to delete them if the ownership of the community (aka the top mod) belongs to an user from another instance?

If you could improve PeerTube, what would you improve?

What keeps you away from PeerTube? What features does PeerTube lack? If you were the developer of PeerTube, how would you improve it?
