    they are not the same games as the hl mods i started playing way before steam came along.

  • 'classic' wmp can be 'enabled' on iot under optional windows features.

    the old photo viewer is also still in the code but has to be enabled with a few registry entries.

    but vlc and irfanview will support more formats.

    i do still kinda like wmp, though, for mp3 and audio cd. its crossfade (audio or video playlist) is also the only thing i've found that keeps my tv from detecting 'no audio' and shutting down when i have manually blanked its screen (for audio only).

    yea. pretty much. they certainly don't make it known that it does exist.

    1 time fee over monthly anyday.

    as far as pricing. if you're gonna pay for cloud storage somewhere, anyway..

    i know it kinda sucks ass, but you're basically paying for that extra onedrive space and getting office 'free' while you do.

    so it does make sense for some users.

    but for the love of clippy, don't share a cheaper 1 user/5pc 'personal' plan with other people because they also share your onedrive space. that can get messy and/or really awkward, really fast. get the one you can share with other users and add their msa to your 365 sub.

  • publisher just flat-out got the axe. it's even getting taken away from '365' subscribers in a few months. i have a few users that will be affected. they are not happy campers.

    if you have it as part of your particular edition and version of (perpetual) office, yea. it should continue to function.

  • ffmpeg binaries from pretty much anyone should have libmp3lame baked-in. the format was 'freed' from the last patent in 2017.

  • it isn't being "killed", it's just EOL, on schedule. the death-blow comes if windows version has a similar digital certificate expiry baked-in like office mac does. which would be a first on windows, because old (even really old) office versions do still work--just don't get security fixes once EOL.

  • even those are a let down these days. can only get 'essentials' with how high prices have climbed, but at least i know when milk, eggs or bread are on salea little cheaper than the other stores' also-high prices.

  • a few of the stores here, including both 'grocery' stores, do contribute close-dated and past-dated foodstuffs that isn't actually spoiled or bad to the local food pantry, who then distributes it to a huge line of people each week.

    some weeks it's a pretty light box to pick up, but every now and then there will be a package of porterhouse or t-bones at the bottom of the box underneath all the "should've been eaten a week ago" produce.
