I use Obsidian for daily task and project management, but also to play / manage TTRPGs. So Joshua Plunkett is my go-to guy for this purpose.

Some of the tools/plugins he uses are generally useful, so even if you don't play TTRPGs he is a great resource.

This is a guide with an example vault that does a great job of showing what obsidian can do. It's the best I've found so far.

And now for my favorite plugins.

Here are my must-have community plugins:

• dataview (an absolute must)
• meta bind (a powerful metadata upgrade)
• tasks (a must for to-do lists in obsidian)
• quickadd (great for partially automating repetitive tasks)

I have others installed, but these four are the ones I'm actually using 95% of the time.

I also use Obsidian sync to synchronise across devices. It works like a charm and isn't expensive, but there are also great free options for synching if you are so inclined to do a little setup work. Also, if you already have a cloud service, you can just define a could folder as your vault, and that works too as long as you never work offline.

And lastly, my one bit of advice:

Simpler is better. This program is incredibly flexible and powerful, and it will be tempting to install every plugin you come across. It is REALLY easy to get lost in the endless options, and constantly be installing new shiny plugins, redoing your vault over and over again to use new features you just found out about.

It's better to really learn a few plugins, and use them to actually make you life easier. If dataview + tasks alone can make a process 90% automated, then it's not really worth your time to do a deep dive into some other plugin that could get you to 92%.

This is not exactly an answer to your question, but I thought I would share anyway.

I use Obsidian for all sorts of PC work, and there are a multitude of plugins and scripts to automate and organise all sorts of tasks. I have no need for any scripts outside of this program.

I haven't had any problems like that, but I generally don't leave my screen on. So perhaps I would have this issue, but just never notice it because of how I use the device.

I'm very conscious of energy use, I almost always manually set my laptop to sleep if I'm leaving it idle for a while.

Bazzite just works, it runs every game I have with zero fuss, it's easy to run Windows programs / emulators / local LLMs, AND it's basically unbreakable.

Mechwarrior 5 mercenaries with mods that add lots of lore-accurate content and additional equipment/loadout options.

I'm just starting to get some of the bigger mechs, and the carnage is epic and loads of fun. The short missions are also great for me as a busy father.

I second that opinion. It seemed shallow and easy at the beginning, but turned out to be a really entertaining and challenging game. I also love how the characters age, develop, and eventually retire.

Maybe it's not. Maybe we are all tiny parts of same consciousness that creates the dream, which makes it consistent based on our shared expectations, or shared subconscious, or whatever connection it is that makes us one. Or something along these lines.

That would explain the consistency without relying upon rigid materialist laws.

I hate mosquitoes too, but why do we keep insisting on changing/eliminating other creatures to suit us? Let's modify OURSELVES to smell like citronella, or better yet, let's make ourselves grow a thick coat of luscious, too-thick-for -mosquitoes fur! That should be relatively easy, and it would come with other benefits too.

This is already being done in Europe to an extent. It is doable, but it requires a shift in thinking and more investment as well as planning. It's not really about getting rid of plastic. Just single-use plastic.

I can second bazzite. It. Just. Works. But it is built differently from the distros that everyone has heard of like arch & Ubuntu, so it's best to read up on how to install non-flatpak programs.

Keep in mind that steam can run Windows programs for you with it's emulation layer. It's not the only option, but it is convenient as an app launcher.

Just a suggestion for a free web-based VTT, owlbear rodeo is super simple to learn, and quite flexible.

I haven't tried it out on mobile, but I'd bet it's worth a try.
