    American here, I can assure you that the majority of the people around me have absolutely no idea about anything involving the UK government.

    In the last month I have overheard two separate conversations in different states, asking if the UK has a "president", and at least one got the answer "no, they have a queen".

    I'm not even sure most Americans are aware the queen died. I'm not sure how they could possibly have missed it, but our country is collectively under a rock, so...

    I have heard many people over the years trying to argue US law for things happening in the UK.

    I have had to inform a great many people that the UK includes Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Most people have been surprised to find out Ireland isn't united as a single country.

    Americans in general are not smart. Even less informed about anything that happens outside the US than I assume most people in the EU know about the US state Ohio.

I tried to show it to the 3 idiots in front of me, and two completely refused to even look at it, going so far as to hold their hands so they literally couldn't see the screen, and the one who was being loudest was saying it's OBVIOUSLY not the same incident, then it's OBVIOUSLY fake when it became obvious she can't refuse to see it's the same car and people and setting.

    At that point I walked away while she was still trying to talk. I tend to get angry when people who voted for a child rapist, actively and vocally support a child rapist, and tell me I'm wrong about the 8 different angles I've seen start spouting idioic bullshit around me.

  • Random thought just popped into my head for no reason I can think of: if you know someone's name, and the county they own property in, you can visit their county records (many even have publicly accessible websites) and find the exact plots of land tied to their name!

    I managed to track down the former property owner of the place I live now to their new house in another state, since they intentionally hid a bunch of issues from the buyer before the sale that ended up costing nearly half the price of the house and the realtors decided to ignore me when I attempted to get in contact.

    All I did was look up "[County I knew remembered they were moving to from overheard conversations during the buying process] county property records" and the rest was super straightforward.
