  • Hello Davel, I see your point. Don't worry about my being infected with Democratic Party opinions, I don't live in the US and I don't care about Hillaries or Kamalas.

    But still, are there enough middle class ppl to sway elections to one side or the other? Historically, and I have Germany 1933 in mind, Hitler needed mass support which came from the working class, too. The same class who by the way provided the most corpses for the war.

    Striking closer to home: the bulk of the Spanish Falangists were working class as well. If you look at their leader, José Antonio Primo de Rivera, you'll see that the leaders were haute bourgoisie indeed. But the king needs pawns to play chess, if you know what I mean.

    Of course this debate is also about what is considered middle class or not. Twice the minimum wage? One million times? There are so many problems with the self-reporting of being middle class that the concept itself is super politicised.

    Also, a general apology to anyone who thought I'm some sort of reactionary. I'm not. But I'm not perfect either. This does not warrant hurtful and agressive attitudes either (not you Davel, someone else in the thread).

    Then there's us, who believe politics can transform people. If they're wrong now, we'll show them why they're wrong, let them reflect on it and hopefully expect them to change their views.

    I feel you, I'm not a confrontational person either. But you've reached a point where there's a red line --and it's RED--, drawn not by opportunism but by axiomatic moral principle. This is good, it's in fact great.

    Some people around the Grad can give more specific advise, but the rule of thumb is speak softly, try to be calm, and go straight to the point. Like, if you were "debating" a flat-earther, you would start by saying "the Earth is round", and then build your arguments from there. This way you show them you're sure of your stance.

    My argument would basically be this is right-wing bullshit which leads to red-brownism (patsoc). In Spain, the fascist communists are a tiny speck of shit led by a certain Roberto Vaquero. They're indistinguishable from Vox or Falange, because they hate Moroccans and feminists. 99% of the Left pisses on these red-brown shitstains and defends gays, women and foreigners in various degrees.

  • The fundamental flaw in campist arguments is that even if we accept that Russia, China, Iran, etc. are also empires and also engage in imperialism that their “imperialism” is distinctly less influential, less destructive, and less threatening to the global working class when compared to the global doom that is American & Western European hegemony.

    This is terribly damaging to the Western ego, because it would mean the Global South has owned the North playing at their own game.

  • The debate sure is nuanced, but all theory must ultimately be practical. Praxis is the heart of Marxism. So I would question what does X organization to support present struggles.

    All those guys are long dead and all have their merits and their defects. Here on Lemmygrad we tend more to the tankie side (that's Stalin, but not only him) because we understand we are about to live in the times of the Second Anti-Fascist World War and that'll require more than hugs & prayers. But rightists really love leftist infighting over dead guys, so most of the time it isn't worth.

    TL;DR: support Cuba, Venezuela, etc. and critically support anyone who's doing their share to bring down the Empire.

    As a teacher, you can imagine how sympathetic I feel to that quote.

    The requisites for being a far-right Spaniard are common to all fascists: be male, stupid, xenophobic, mysoginist, traditional, religious (albeit hypocritical), defend the rich, lick boots.

    They're mad because the 1% who fit the description cannot convince more than 10% - 15%. And that's through truckloads of $$$ spent in propaganda.

  • Been reflecting on this, too. Even Spanish fascist dabble in English language 4chan memes. I have mixed feelings but like it or not, the internet's dominant language is English, maybe as lingua franca.

    Federation can help this because, as far as I know, contents can come from several instances and therefore they come in their preferred languages.
