The Firefox Terms of Use announcement showed once again how many there are.
  • I fail to see the problem. For privacy sublemmies especially it feels nice to have a redundant way of getting told about important stuff like this.

  • Freshly stolen meme from another platform rule
  • It's been a hot minute since I watched it as well, but I'd watch it almost religiously over and over for a while back then. Same with The Matrix and Office Space. All 1999 movies, huh..

  • I need to vent about Windows. I want workplaces to use Linux.
  • Directories routinely take mulitple seconds to load, and I don’t understand why.

Probably thumbnail generation, and I was going to say file indexing, but surely that runs in the background. Baloo in KDE is a lot less intrusive anyway.

  • linux rule
  • I know it's late but this is the direct link to the thumbnail: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/cC1CqyCN9Q0/maxresdefault.jpg

  • linux rule
  • Now show me how you set up BTRFS subvolumes

  • Microsoft employees removed from town hall for protesting AI contracts with Israeli military
  • Exactly: "Let's make something that removes the human decision making from the process.. Huh, it's evil?!"

  • Copilot exposes private GitHub pages, some removed by Microsoft
  • As one commented below the article, "Recall too I bet".
It's like the dumbest anosmic sheep dog that'll just show the wolf the way to the sheep.

  • Radarr now suggests not to use uTorrent
  • They speedran the enshittification process, so quickly the term wasn't even invented yet.

  • Radarr now suggests not to use uTorrent
  • Only a decade late.. Luckily qBittorrent is brilliant. And if qBittorrent somehow wasn't an option, I might go with BiglyBT - it's not the easiest on the eyes, but lots of settings.

  • Shots Fired Into the Home of Oregon Insurance CEO
  • It's no surprise we'd see copycats after Luigi. I wonder if MSM will try and keep this off the air, sort of sweep it under the rug to prevent people getting any more good ideas.

  • Some points about caltrops | Lindybeige [33:25]
  • I've never wanted to own sheet plate cutters more in my life after watching that clip of the fella from Ukraine show off that clever designed caltrop.

  • Morrowind game engine OpenMW gearing up for a huge new 0.49 release
  • I appreciate the correction. Thanks for your hard work on OpenMW ❤️

  • Boycott USA Flyer
  • It's pretty much just Bing and Google no matter what engine you use nowadays. Well, unless you go with Yandex or chinese search engines: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_search_engines - Mojeek is a meta-search engine, but it also crawls the internet itself, which makes it very interesting.. I might give it a go.

  • Indie devs have begun adding a no generative AI stamp to their store pages
  • True. Fake it till you make it as the flimflam fellas say.

  • Indie devs have begun adding a no generative AI stamp to their store pages
  • I wonder if LLM companies will use that stamp as a way to identify original ideas they can scrape.

  • Live (Animated) wallpapers programs for linux
  • I'm surprised nobody has recommended Smart Video Wallpaper Reborn for KDE, but then again, it is an old thread. This is my favorite, it also allows for animated wallaper on the lockscreen.

  • Lively Wallpaper - Open Source alternative to Wallpaper Engine for animated wallpapers.
  • I tried downloading it precompiled and it just complains about needing libsteam_api.so. Gonna see if compiling fixes that..
Nah, too much faff, as I'm on fedora. I couldn't quite figure out the dependencies.
