  • Maybe I'm just not intrenched enough to hear the consensus pushback that I'm sure exists on the tabernacle level; and I do refrain from demanding an answer from Jewish people cuz I think that's wrong. But its a 50/50 for who is willing to denounce zionism and who seems to have bought into the propaganda.

    I think, unfortunately, that in Canada the ratio is more 70/30 with majority supporting Zionism, while the US is closer to 50/50.

    Historically and preceding WW2, Jewish immigrants preferred going to the US - Canada had a nasty habit of turning Jews away (even during and after the holocaust). The existinf US Jewish population managed to grow and create a culture that was very separate from what Zionism started to build in the late 19th/early 20th century in Europe.

    Because Canada's Jewish population grew up with Zionist ideology being relevant to a great degree, the ratio is more skewed.

    Like the other user said, anti-zionist Jewish voices in Canada are lacking in institutions and numbers especially in comparison to the US. They exist and need to be supported as well.

  • Torrentio has been restricted depending on the country that you're VPN-ing from. Even without a debrid, just VPN, torrentio on stremio was rarely working.

    Ended up using TorrentsDB, a torrentio alternative add-on that uses the same scraped data as torrentio but was more readily available.

    I don't know why you're facing those issues with TorBox. I signed up with a VPN on and no issues. People tend to prefer TorBox specifically because they don't care about your IP address and they accept multiple accesses to the same login. Are you using a bank card for payment?

    Worst case, try signing up for TorBox from a public wifi or similar.

    Also with TorBox, they're pretty private already and you don't necessarily have to use a VPN. But you still can if that's what you want.

  • It's nice that the museum mentioned it, but that also shouldn't have any bearing on the story of the Nakba.

    This is a Zionist narrative that tries to group all of "the Arabs" into one hegemonic group to excuse their treatment of Palestinians (i.e. "generalized Arabs").

    Grouping Arabs together is as general as grouping Europeans or Africans.

    My point is that the journalist has a following on a platform that they've built over time and is writing about an important issue.

    The NDP still posts on Xitter and Meta platforms, the DSA too. At least the writer has made the article publicly available so no proceeds are going to Substack.

    I'm not sure if you've seen the alternatives to Substack either. Other than moral criticisms and poor payment models for creators, the only alternative would be to self-host, and that's not easy for non-tech savvy.

    I don't know, on one hand, I definitely want AIPAC Shakur replaced by a DSA member. On the other, I don't know if Oche would have had a big chance of winning against.

    The article I shared was already talking about Mamdani pushing for Goldman to be ousted even back then, and we've seen results there. I think the article I shared shows some practicality of consolidating power in an area and expanding from there.
