I think these are good questions, but I think the answers are banal. Do you know what Jeff Bezos' daughter looks like? If you almost ran over Priscilla Chan, would you know it was her?
The flowers we know are Milchik's parting gift for Helena's first day. I do think this second point stretches credulity and the best answer I can give is that they wanted to send no flags about Helly R. being really important for most of the employees who don't recognize her.
I still love the show and think this season has done some great things, but I think S2 shows some of the flaws of advancing a mystery box show in the vein of Lost - they think they've set something up for you, when they haven't. (And this is me speaking as a huge Lost defender).
There's basically a missing scene where Cobel lets Devon know that Mark is at risk if he tries to integrate his lives and to call her if she's afraid for his life. They also do a lot of heavy implication that Dylan's resignation request will be accepted and don't show us what the standard process is for convincing an innie not to freak out. Before this we've only seen Helly make requests and she's a special case. So I'm confused why Milchik immediately treats the resignation request as a straight-up resignation.
I was worried as soon as the "GMO cost $15 million" mindvirus got started that it would be weaponized for bad faith arguments. To replicate Godzilla Minus One, you need a leader with an unhealthy approach to work/life to throw himself into hours of work. Another way to get that budget is to exploit the shit out of your workers
There is obviously a ton of waste in Western entertainment budgets, particularly from Disney. But online commenters are doing the work of Disney's executives by holding up an outlier as an example of the new benchmark for budget success. You shouldn't fixate on the profitability of the endeavor, but instead on the effectiveness of the investment.
