  • OFC the too-rigid deathtrap scores well on the test that benefits from rigidity...

  • I agree it's not a useless tool, but only a fool believes it hasn't been marketed far, far beyond its actual capability.

  • What is this actually saying? It's just quoting a few things, doesn't explicitly describe what the "Sign of Jonah" is to OP, and doesn't even go on to posit the question at the end.

This is either LLM generated, or posted prematurely by a child.

  • rofl you claim to understand how they work, yet fail to realize how they cannot produce truth... Pathetic.

  • If you know more about biology than me then you should KNOW the HUGE scale differences between life forms.

It's not my fault you're too fucking willfully ignorant to understand the literal truth behind a "bong rip thought".

  • You misunderstand how LLMs work. If it were simply true that is was capable of determining truth like an algorithm can reliably produce a result, you would have a point.

But that's not how LLMs work. At all. What so ever. The information that is supposed to come out of them IS NOT derrived from some static process that simply needs to not have some bits flip sometimes.

The problem with LLMs is they LITERALLY DO NOT THINK. At all. Period. They're WORSE than a crazy person. They're like listening to the ramblings of someone talking in their sleep, and pretending that maybe some day that sleeping person will be able to write a collegiate dissertation on a new topic... In their sleep.

Add on top of that the fact that people DO think, CAN reason away falsehoods, sarcasm, and misinformation, yet still constantly come to wrong conclusions... To think LLMs are close to replacing humans is the true ignorant fool position.

  • Nonono, that's taking a step backwards toward the Ship of Theseus instead of the teleporter question. Everyone agrees there is a continued experience regardless of whether someone says, "yup that's still exactly your body".

The entire point of the teleporter question is... where is "your" mind and identity defined? If it's only a prescription for how a body looks and behaves, then it doesn't matter. If it's someone's own, personal, literal consciousness and continued sense of 'self' by that specific consciousness, it does matter if YOUR consciousness is coming out still attached to the body.

  • Well, the people stanning Hasan are likely just practicing basic, dumb tribalism. Tribalism is more powerful than ethics, otherwise so many wars and conflicts from history (and the modern day) wouldn't have ever happened.

  • That's pretty much exactly why I think it's more about a lesson on how to treat others. Humans fundamentally believe they're free to choose things, regardless of their religious affiliation. We always tell ourselves we want this and that, and decided x and y, etc. Regardless of the reality of free will, we all think we have it.

The only genuine purpose of saying Free Will is a gift from God I can think of is simply to make the dummies that want to force behavior on others hesitate about stepping on "God's domain".

  • This is about the efficacy of ads and where they really don't shine, not how to block them.

  • Yeah, a union would be great, although I feel like that would be something that would have to come quite a ways down the road of ethical devs coming together. After all, not even the FOSS community agrees on what is ethical to give away and to whom.

Maybe a union is still the right term for the abstract 'coming together' I'm thinking of, since it's hard to imagine how they could go from a generic collective to a body that could actually make effective demands, but perhaps it's roughly the same process as getting a job-wide union off the ground.

  • You not understanding what I said doesn't mean I do not understand what I said.

Your understanding is still grossly ignorant and pathetically self-confidant. The main point I was trying to drive home was the DIFFERENT SCALES of life, yet you go off trying to attack me for explaining things in simple terms... You are pathetic.

  • Yep! Funny how so many good ideas get ruined by the people that think they deserve the biggest pay checks...

  • If there deference to the meat industry is what scares you over every other thing they show deference for, (like corruption, cowing to politicians and fascists, and qualified immunity) you're about to become MUCH more concerned over cops in the next couple years...

  • You would hope, but far too many people fail to even understand the shape of the hole in their knowledge, so they wouldn't even recognize what should go in that blank spot...

Then you get billions of people believing there's a magical sky daddy that will take care of us no matter what, and those words about us being good stewards of the earth is totally just about like, not pooping on the road! Definitely not about wanton resource extraction and environmental exploitation and distruction...

All those lessons about how to be a good ruler are just describing that sky daddy! They're definitely not direct and allegorical stories trying to teach what virtues to look for in leaders and which ones deserve to be dethroned... God is definitely real literally and not just allegory for leaders that are glorified, it's definitely not about humans treating other humans with respect, but about Sky Daddy playing with his toys!

  • Interesting that ONE of his predicitons sorta' came true, but the monument thing is CRAZY from modern people!

Humans REALLY need to grow past glorifying paychopaths who happen to have ONE correct hallucination out of thousands.

... Y'know, everyone sucking off "AI" while it's still wrong a great number of times kinda makes sense, when you factor in how fucking stupid most people are...

  • Ya'll are just describing why religion always fails at it's purported task of making a better populace. When rituals and ceremony take over from the psudo-philosophy and self-reflection, you get BS pointless rules like these that then go on to harm all other aspects of the religion.

  • Not just investors. Capitalists in general. The stock market just makes it much easier for capitalists to pretend that profit at any expense is wise.

  • The universe does not render to nothing that which came from something.

The very laws of physics dictate that 'you' do not disappear. Time is a human projection of our understanding and perspective. Our times of death are merely a location on a much grander tapestry that we are absolutely a part of. While we may not be infinite, we are real.
