I’ll have a half hour conversation with an old friend over text. We agree we should get together sometime soon. I offer up some dates or general timeframes. With some friends this has a near 100% success rate consistently. With others I get radio silence out of nowhere every time. No idea what I’m doing wrong or misunderstanding.
Gotta bring it to one extreme or the other. Either the game only gets interrupted when It Happens. Or the game has regularly scheduled breaks for a couple minutes of reeducation. Bite sized micro learning but proletarian.
I hope they really commit to this. Keep gimp as an option for the obstinate among us, but make wlbr the default. Gimp is, even to people who don’t recognize it as a slur, an informal and rude word and it makes it hard for people who already don’t care about open source to not just dismiss it out of hand when they hear that name.
Explain that you haven’t been to a doctor in 10 years and that you need help prioritizing your concerns. That gives them the necessary context and still acknowledges their expertise so it doesn’t seem like you’re just insisting you have a bunch of things that need diagnosed for you to be satisfied. It also makes the work more bite sized and they can help you decide how to schedule what when and what needs a referral and all that.
Is it a distribution problem if the owning class has actively prevented their global-scale logistics systems from being applied in a way that would benefit the poorest of the poor? Amazon and Walmart have the technology, resources, and knowledge to feed everyone in the world. It’s a solved problem. The problem is with who owns them and therefore who makes decisions about their operation.
It reminds me of how nursing homes are operated. I know so many people whose grandparents’ homes got sold to pay for their nursing home bills. My grandma went into a nursing home with a need for PT, but otherwise fully independent. She was supposed to get out in like a month. They just kept lengthening her stay. Turns out she got there, they almost immediately declared her bed bound, and put her into a room alone. By the time we pulled her out because they were trying to admit her indefinitely, she could barely talk and she never walked again. I don’t think she was even getting her PT. But she gained her ability to talk back and boy did she have some shit to say about that place.
Fascists have to be indoctrinated on purpose. Queer people will always be born whether they like it or not.
