Loadbalancing between 2 locations

Hello everyone!

My friend and I have each bought an optiplex server. Our goal is to selfhost a web app (static html) with redundancy. If my server goes down, his takes over and vice versa. I've looked into Docker Swarm, but each server has to be totally independent (each runs its own apps, with a few shared ones).

I can't find a solution that allows each server to take over and manage loadbalancing between the two. Ideally with traefik, because that's what we're currently using. To me the real issue is the DNS A record that point to only one IP :(

Alternative to Minio ?

Hello,

I'm currently using Minio as an easy database for serving my images. To make things simpler everything is set to public, so that just with the URL, you can access it directly. While it's working great for my website, by setting everything public you can easily see ALL the images. So my question is : What is the best way to setup my node JS app as a proxy ? Is it going through the full S3 protocol hell mess, or is there any solution ?

PS : I have a lot of images, so setting everything in the node app is not possible

Termius alternative ?

Hi, Is there any selfhosted app that can do the same as Termius ? https://termius.com/

Like a cool UI and super easy SSH access

  • I wasn't quick enough to answer @vsq, but I'd really like to know, as a false beginner, isn't renting a VPS server considered as selfhosting? Even if I have all my services on it (Jellyfin, n8n, Immich, TeamCity etc).

  • My app and DB are on the same server, even more the same Docker Network. Environments separated by region seem to be the best solution for my use case. I hadn't thought of that at all, thank you very much.

    Scale to other countries

    Hello everyone !
I have a node app and a PostgreSQL DB in VPS using Docker, with Coolify as a CI/CD, nothing too fancy, you might say.

    My question is the following.
I have a lot of read/write on my DB and even the lowest increase in DB latency can have an impact on my users' experience. As my VPS is in France, what could be the best/easiest (selfhosted?) option to solve this problem in other regions (North America, Asia...) ?

    Thks in advance 🎄🎁

How to bypass plane WIFI limitations ?

Hi everyone, I was wandering how to bypass plane limitation on WiFi. Companies are offering free WiFi limited to SMS and WhatsApp. Is there anything available to have a complete internet access without paying their 30$ option ?

I tested VPN but no connections seems possible.

My server is slow when i'm in Korea

    Hi,

I'm currenty using Oracle Free Tier for Jellyfin (hosted in Paris) and i wanted to know what is the proper way to speed up media delivery when i'm far away from the server location ? (Korea currently)

EDIT : After all your replies, my VPN through Hong Kong give me the best speed.

Can you link eMule with Radarr or Sonarr ?

Is it possible to add eMule as a source for Radarr or Sonarr? I've noticed that eMule is often used for older content.
