Ellis last week said agents in the area must wear badges, and she banned them from using certain riot control techniques against peaceful protesters and journalists.
“I’m having concerns about my order being followed,” the judge said.
“I am adding that all agents who are operating in Operation Midway Blitz are to wear body-worn cameras, and they are to be on,” Ellis said, referring to the government’s name for the crackdown.
So, to be clear, if you are assaulted by a person or person who is not wearing a badge and a camera, you should be well within your rights to use whatever force is necessary to defend yourself. Right?
Person who knows asks the person who doesn't know to pay them in grains of rice by putting a grain of rice on one square of a chess board and double it for each other square. So one in the first, two in the second, four in the third, etc. So 1 doubled 64 times. The one who don't understand thinks they're getting a deal and it'll end up as a modest amount of rice. The one who does understand knows that the total will be 1.8x1019 grains of rice on the board. Hence they are both smiling... at first.
For reference, assuming an average grain of rice is 5 millimeters long, laying all that rice end-to-end would stretch 9.75 light years.
“We support lawful activities, but as you know and heard me say before, we believe that the deployment of the National Guard is unconstitutional. At the same time, racial profiling is unconstitutional,” said Mayor Harris.
On Monday, the Supreme Court issued a brief, unsigned order that overturns those decisions. This gives immigration agents a “green light” to once again stop anyone they guess to be here illegally—even if a central reason for the stop was race. This endorses ICE and Border Patrol targeting any Latinos they observe in Los Angeles speaking Spanish or working in low-income jobs, and then demanding their papers.
It’s also that many are deciding not to visit the United States, dealing a blow to countless resorts and travel businesses that once relied on a steady stream of Canadian visitors.
On a normal year, roughly 70% of the daily golfers at the Bluff Point Golf Resort in Plattsburgh, New York are Canadians. Not this year.
“It’s been a dramatic drop. It’s very rare that we see someone pull in to play golf that’s coming from Canada,” said Paul Dame, owner of Bluff Point Golf Resort, which is located just 35 minutes from downtown Montreal.
No shit, Sherlock. Are YOU going to go to a country where there's a substantial chance you could be arrested and indefinitely detained and maybe sent to a gulag in some third country?
“The tough thing for us is, it’s nothing we’ve done."
If you voted for Trump, or chose not to vote at all, then it you sure as fuck deserve your share of the blame.
I kept one for a while because I had read a book that claimed doing so helped you recognize when you are dreaming. Knowing when you are dreaming lets you have lucid dreams and control the elements of your dream. I succeeded once. For just a very brief time before I lost it and woke up. But yeah, the dreams I thought were interesting were a whole lot less so when I reread them later.
“I think everyone knows there’s not enough original stuff out there right now. Everything is so IP-driven,” Ross says.
I am so glad to hear that the Duffers feel that way. I'm so tired of remakes, reboots, and endless sequels trying to squeeze every last penny out of every piece of IP.
About 40% of methane emissions come from natural sources. But scientists are concerned that global heating is leading to more methane production in wetlands, another potential feedback loop. The rest comes from fossil fuel exploitation; livestock such as cattle; rotting waste in landfills; and rice paddies. Human-caused nitrous oxide emissions include those from overuse of fertiliser by farmers and some industrial processes.
Add on to this all the new methane seeps they're discovering on the antarctic sea floor. Personally I think this will turn out to be a major tipping point. There is believed to be a lot of methane down there and methane, while short lived in the atmosphere, is a far more portent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide.
Have you met the Baileys? The imaginary (conservative) voters that Schumer bases all his policy decisions on? Watch this clip from Last Week Tonight and get a whole new understanding of his incompetence.
Last week he urged the court to urgently intervene, saying that if the court did not take action, his website, Infowars, was at risk of being turned over to the satirical news site The Onion.
The proposed acquisition would be used to help fund payments to family members of the Sandy Hook victims.
Jones' lawyers had warned in the filing last week that if the case was not put on hold, “InfoWars will have been acquired by its ideological nemesis and destroyed."
Ideological nemesis? Really? Infowars has always been a joke. Under The Onion at least it'll also be funny.
Embattled Republican leader Matt Gaetz who will become the attorney general if cleared by the Senate, which is unlikely, has now been accused of attending at least 10 sex parties between 2017 and 2018 when he was serving his first term in Congress.
....
Lawyer Joel Leppard representing two women who already testified before the House Ethics Committee said his clients informed the probe panel that drugs were consumed at those sex parties. One of the women claimed to have seen Gaetz having sex with an underage friend up against a games table.
No reasonable company would send their citizens to work in the USA when there is every possibility that they could be indefinitely detained or "deported" to some third world gulag at the whim of the Trump administration.
Can and will, I assume.
