5 years on, COVID remains NZ’s most important infectious disease – it still demands a strong response
  • 664 deaths due to covid in the last year?! Jeez.

I happened to pop in to the pharmacy for something, and if it wasn't for a poster advising a new round of free boosters was available I wouldn't have known or gotten one.

Gov. Could do a bit better with awareness and promotion.

  • We got chickens when facing an egg crisis here in NZ. Lovely little animals. It's been nice being able to look after and care for these creatures, knowing they are living the good life whilst consuming their eggs. Much more useful than my dumb dog.

  • As someone who's skipped the whole OE and worked hard to scrape together a house deposit, living in a not too great area surrounded by KO homes whilst struggling somewhat to pay the mortgage, I don't get the sensationalism surrounding the news articles focusing on KO lately. Like, I'd love to be able to live in a nicely insulated home where the cost won't exceed 25% of my income. If people take the mickey in this situation we shouldn't be giving them a rent free pass? ie rewarding people for not playing their part in society. Alternative headline: Tenants who don't pay rent get evicted.

About 2000 tenants owe more than 12-weeks' rent as the agency looks to crack down.

Eurovision has become an ugly mess
  • How is this one lady who's got amazing talent being held responsible for the wrong doings of her countries government?

Like that's not how blame works, but I suppose this is their outlet?

A big shame none the less.

  • Watching from over here in New Zealand and if your reply to the thoughtful comment above you is - "he didn't raise minimum wage enough" - 1. You don't understand jack shit about economics, and 2. You forgot to adress all of the other points raised. But oh, your threatening to go vote against your own interests to spite this anonymous dude online.

You are everything that is wrong with this world and I'm glad that I live far enough away that it won't affect me. Fuck you and do what you want.

  • How much IT maintenance is required once the connection is set up? I thought fibre was an initial large investment, but required little upkeep.

If it does take man power its a given that the price will continue to climb.

  • Vodafone just let us know our fibre bill will be going up by 6$ a month, citing their costs changing.

Shouldn't fibre costs decrease overtime as it gets more users and achieves economies of scale?

  • Vaquitas are the smallest of all the living cetacean species measuring between 1.2 and 1.5 meters (4-5 feet). They are only found in the Gulf of California and it's thought there are just 10 left, down from around 30 in 2017. The reason for this decline in the population is due to fishers using gillnets, a specialized flat net used for the illegal hunting of totoaba fish, which are sold into the lucrative traditional Chinese medicine black market
