Canadian domain registrars. Any you recommend 10/10?
  • Try asking over at !buycanadian@lemmy.ca, you might get more responses there

  • Lists of Canadian-made products (work in progress)

Here’s some links to websites which list products made in Canada. Please note I have not personally created these lists and there may be issues (e.g. made in Canada from an American company), so it’s best to still do your research. I will eventually have a list of my own for 100% Canadian brands, organized by product type, but until then you can use these lists to help you. I may add or remove lists from here as I see fit and based on community complaints/requests. This is definitely a work in progress still so please be patient, but also please do give me any feedback you can so I can improve this list.

I’ve been shopping from these guys for years now. I have several belts, a couple wallets, a couple bags, a hat (unfortunately the hat isn’t made in Canada, just the leather emblem), and a bunch of smaller accessories. They aren’t cheap, but not crazy expensive either, and you definitely get what you pay for. They’re the only ones I buy from now. They also go on sale frequently too. They currently have a site-wide 25% sale, but they also sometimes have up to 40% off sales too.

    CBC Gem recommendations?
  • Republic of Doyle is a great Newfie show. Plus Allan Hawco is great. I met him at a Costco in St. John’s once, buying peaches with Mark Critch. Both awesome people, super friendly.

  • Recommendations thread

    Hey everyone.

I thought I’d make a post for anyone to comment on with suggestions they’d like to see in this community. Seeing as it’s starting to get quite a bit more active, and now that we have several mods, we should probably make it more professional looking, with a proper sidebar and maybe some other features you might have seen in another community that you liked.

If anyone has seen ideas they’d like to see here, feel free to suggest them in the comments on this post and myself and the other mods can possibly implement them. I’ll leave this post pinned so it’s easy to access, in case you read this and have an idea later on.

Inviting Canadians to Lemmyvision: the Lemmy song contest !
  • Maybe not this time around since you’ve already got all the rules in place but maybe a future one you could expand it to regions of Canada? It’s a big enough country that I feel you could do that. For example, eastern Canada (especially Newfoundland but also Nova Scotia and maybe other Atlantic provinces, I’m not 100% sure) have a very different culture than the rest of Canada, and I’m sure western Canada could be similarly different. Just a thought if you wanted to change things up in a future one. I’d imagine the States would be similar too

  • (Question) Are there any communities centred around buying Canadian-made products?

BuyCanadian was a fantastic subreddit but I couldn’t find anything with that name on this instance, I was just curious if there was a community about it on another instance
