  • You don’t… understand? That people want food but don’t want to go out? This really isn’t rocket surgery.

  • Suck my dick and balls Dana, what’re you gunna do, punch me?

  • Linux mint waaaaaaay back when it first launched.

  • Hell yeah I do.

  • Hard disagree. It certainly has strengths and outperforms Dalle3 in some ways but in other ways Dalle3 is still the best handler of text and prompt interpretation. And neither have the flexibility of stable diffusion/SDXL

  • Wisdom.

  • No you’ve complained and insinuated there are plenty of other solutions that the world class team at Signal, literally the preminent experts in their field, chose not to use - and then offered to some truly next level terrible options.

  • Their leadership team is not overpaid relative to the industry and they are highly deserved of those salaries. They make an excellent product. The point isn’t that the leadership team makes 5mil between them, a drop in the bucket of the 50mil total operating cost. It’s hard to read your comment as anything but disingenuous.

  • Yep. And then there’s gamepass. I vastly vastly prefer working and using Linux day to day, but games, man. Man’s gotta be able to game after a long day at work and I wasted literally a week of after work hours trying and failing to get Starfield to run on Proton.

  • What does that 50TB look like? I’m pushing up against 25 at this point but it’s shamefully all usb hdds plugged into a usb strip in a mini pc, and it’s less than ideal.

  • Tf? If you need ungoogled chromium just use ungoogled chromium.

  • My kingdom for a solution that works for iCloud

  • So I’m showi my my extreme age but I remember when Mint was born as a sort of windows-like Ubuntu for easy migration. Has it carved out a reason for existing for folks that don’t want a windows like experience?

  • Absolutely agree

  • Everyone’s a fan of fair use until it’s their work that is transformed.

  • Telegram is absolutely not vastly better than WhatsApp. Open Whisper Systems literally built the E2EE in WhatsApp. Its implementation of OTR predates signal.

Meanwhile, Telegram insists on rolling their own crypto and it’s closed source.

I think OP can and should try to get friends into Signal. But WhatsApp I’is almost certainly the answer to the OP. It offers well implemented proven off the record, E2EE communications, it’s widely adopted, cross platform. It’s miles better than SMS and Facebook or Instagram messenger or Snapchat. OP is looking for the best compromise, WhatsApp is it.
