  • It ain't your job to educate me, but if I can ask anyways, why would one opt to not vote out of principle? I went n' looked it up, yet the only mention of it being a conscious decision are spotty, single sentences. Everything else seems to focus on the socioeconomic difficulties people can experience.

    To me, it would seem that voting for a non-mainstream party would be optimal if you don't trust the two-party system, wouldn't it?

  • Honestly, I've kinda grown to hate these phones, yet I find myself constantly going back like it's a digital addiction. Compared to entertainment media prior to these horror pocketbricks, seemingly everything had more novelty. TV/Movie nights were special and shared with family, and man it was always fun picking out what CD to pop into the player. Gaming sessions were entertaining because my brother would join, and we'd have a couch party with a GameCube, or even a Nintendo DS with a multiplayer game. He was such a screenpeeker.

    It plagues me that the more I think on it, I truly dont feel it's nostalgia, there seems to be a lost novelty, and the phone and internet largely seemed to replace it all. Now, couch parties are had as a Discord call, movie nights are supplemented with a customized YouTube feed. Even the era of personal websites are fading away.

    On a side note, all those things are possible for us to have today, yet we don't. It feels like a conscious decision to pursue convenience over connection, but why did we pick this path?

  • Also a tip for y'all interested: some communities have a designated board in public places like parks, where it's allowed for the community to throw up whatever graffiti they want to, without bein' afraid of some cop chasing ya down for vandalism. Maybe make a visit if y'got one nearby?

  • Heh, I've been to a furcon before, so I suppose in some ways it wouldn't be a complete upturn to what I've seen lel. I often think about it though, just how much more fun the world would be if those who expressed themselves and their eccentricities were embraced, rather than pushed away.

  • Honestly even explicit content aside, I'm afraid of being lumped in with some group that's staring down the end of the barrel. Even though furries seem valuable to STEM jobs, the large LGBT presence and general 'weirdness' make it seem easy for us to be given some degenerate label.

  • I do not know the internals as far as desired, but USPS was developed to be completely self-reliant, as in no funds should be extracted or provided to/from any government's budget. Massively oversimplifying here, this means that managers are incentivised to push workers they do have, and avoid hiring new workers where extra aid is needed. Throw in a burecracy that does incentivize lower performing carriers to be promoted, and now there's a a management issue.

    For those looking to get into the postal service, the crappy management is a hurdle to deal with, and the hiring procedure is a manifestation of that.

    Not to stray away from it, as some people enjoy it thoroughly, but USPS tends to be a very finicky place to work at. It often doesn't lead into career growth, the workplace can get bogged by bad management, and the phrase "Going Postal" happened enough to become a common concept.

  • Honestly the most surprising thing to me was that this sorta action doesnt happen more often. Like, this is easy for people to do when angry, and definitely sends a message to someone. Now, it'll be the insurance company that foots the bill at the end of the day, so the specific company owning it won't quite receive the full message of it, but y'know.

    Also constructive criticism. Maaayybeee risking the lives of possible hundreds to thousands isn't quite the best idea? Like I know some people would argue it was funny some rich guy's eating his shit, but if you do wanna 'send a message', this guy put his workers outta a job, risked their wellbeing, and that fire coulda spread. Compare that to Luigi Magione, who's only collateral damage was my health insurance costs going down for a few months.
