I don't disagree with you, but I will say that it is quite dependent on the community. I had some issues for a while, but spent time filtering and muting/blocking communities and users, and now I'm at a point where my feed is significantly less fanatical and toxic than Reddit ever was (even after years of attempting to filter the same way).

Exactly my reason. After the Reddit API fiasco, I tried the Lemmy web interfaces at first and was a bit frustrated because it just didn't work well. Then I saw Boost had a Lemmy version, and switched over, easy-peasy.
Congratulations on 1 year! I don't read every day, but I'm glad when I do. Quite a commitment! Thanks so much for your contribution!
I know I'm in the minority, but I actually like the pledge, even if it's reminiscent of authoritarianism (and I strongly believe it should be optional). But that's because my interpretation was always "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the USA, and to the [ideals and values of the] republic for which it stands." I viewed it as an affirmation of the commitment by myself to the "liberty and justice for all" we wanted, not as a statement of fact that no matter what the current leadership does, you should be loyal.
All that being said, I could see a contribution of the pledge to an environment of the nationalism or jingoism that led to MAGA. I just don't blame the pledge; I blame the leaders, politicians, media personalities, and individuals that drove MAGA to become mainstream.
Mimi #8: New show
There's enough variety here that I don't mind them. If they were dominating the community, that's one thing, but I don't see that as the case right now.

If there was a god, I'd imagine them designing the universe and giggling like an idiot when they made math.

Sauron Denies Request for Contract Information
Reading a prepared statement from the tower of Barad-dûr, the Mouth of Sauron indicated today that the Dark Lord would not be complying with the demands of lawmakers to provide information on its contracts with the Trump Administration. The Messenger of Mordor further called the demands "ridiculous" and "unnecessary government intrusion into private affairs of Sauron, who does not answer to any higher authority, save that of his fallen master Morgoth." Furthermore, the statement chastised the lawmakers for contacting Sauron through the Palantir, which he described as "an illegal privacy breach," and said he planned to seek legal action for this invasion of his personal communications.

I loved this show! But the abrupt "ending" just left so many plot points unanswered that I can't rewatch it at all, because I get disappointed. The acting was quite impressive, especially Lena Hedley (Sarah Connor), who went on to play Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones
The real answer is that when I closed the tags, they didn't show up in the comment. So I left them open, because it looked utterly ridiculous. But I like your interpretation way better!
<unwarranted rage No way, BONTO! sucked. You couldn't even Slorp your entire friends list anymore, and they added all of those BONTOgrams for no reason. We disagree on a topic, so I despise you now and your entire genetic line. </rage
But you should really try NeWSlarP, a FLOSS fork of Slorp by the original developer that brings back both SlorpTokens and Schlarpmänner!
This sounds insane, but I'm absolutely fascinated by it. I just ran out of cottage cheese yesterday, but I'm going to try making these later this week!
Isn't most of the insurance for liability? I can see a logic where older cars are less safe, and thus accidents are more likely and would cost more, hence the higher costs. But I'm just guessing.
I mean, fuck Boeing and the death still seems suspicious. But to claim that there was no police investigation is just lying. Suspect a cover-up or frame or whatever if you want, but seems like there was a pretty thorough investigation: https://www.wdbj7.com/2024/05/18/police-release-investigation-report-boeing-whistleblower-death/
