  • Newer Dells have removed the s3 deep sleep. I believe the cutoff is between Intel 11th gen and 12th gen in (at least) Latitudes. I have a i7 12th gen that sucks at sleep, but an i5 8th gen that sleeps well.

  • This is great for those who just need a little extra time to migrate to a better browser. Hopefully, they'll take this as a short reprieve if they didn't hear the screaming warning already. Unfortunately, most people will just keep using the crap shoveled onto their plate.

  • I guess I was more thinking in a "boots on the ground" way. We don't have a problem pouring money into the wrong causes but he does seem to be unwilling to commit US troops. I'm sure he'll keep placating the bootlickers in some way of his own choosing.

  • So unfortunate. Humanity has so much more potential than just monetization but the US is a lost cause for that at the moment. If other sane countries would stand up together it would make it easier for the "endangered" countries to see who really cares for them.

  • Keep posting these articles. We have enough tech companies out there creating piles of useless electronics in peoples' home. I'm sure there are some who will just blindly go buy the next thing, but there are growing numbers of folks who are starting to refuse to buy into these ecosystems because we know they'll be artificially obsoleted. Eventually, this will turn into a money issue for these companies who invest heavily in proprietary or semi-proprietary stacks.

  • I always look for the companies that are advertising heavily. If we could see their books, I'd say the ones that spend more on marketing than engineering, product, and ops are likely the ones who will enshittify, eventually. They are building the product or service to sell later so they are trying to drum up users and corner the market.

Unfortunately, this is just about everything in the US now.
