During the Reagan administration, Obama would have been Republican.
I remember watching him walk into that screaming stadium of people after his election, looking like a rock star. I didn't buy it at all. I was absolutely certain that none of the "Hope & Change" he was espousing was ever going to happen, and we'd have an administration not much different from Clinton or Bush.
And I was right. The Dems long-standing strategy of appeasement has never worked, and now MAGA Nazis count on it when creating their strategies. They know that no matter how bad they behave - insurrections, stealing classified documents, taking bribes, insider trading, breath-taking corruption, rape, genocide, cover-ups, hush money payments, sentencing sick people to suffering and death, child molesting, etc., etc. - the Dems will do absolutely NOTHING, and even if they did, the MAGA Nazis would either block it or ignore it. So they get away with the most egregious behavior and crime with impunity.

Nobody is talking about it on the MAGA side, but that's because it is too early. If they were to make the announcement now, that leaves more than a year for people to get angry, and the courts to weigh in, stop their ban.
Instead, they'll wait until late next summer. They will stoke the protests between now and then, forcing them to be more and more violent. Eventually they will engineer a major violent incident, and sometimes around early to mid-October 2026, he will announce that the 2026 Mid-terms are being postponed "until peace can be restored." Since he controls the peace, and what defines it, that will never happen.
Even so, many will believe him, and think that when those evil liberal protesters start to behave, we can get our elections back. But when he suspends the 2028 Presidential election, people will finally understand that there will never be another election as long as he is alive.
Not one single Democrat should EVER vote for ANY MAGA sponsored legislation.
We need Democratic leaders who will resist the MAGA Nazis at every opportunity, and deliberately create more opportunities to resist them, just to antagonize them. Leadership should warm their people before every vote, that Dem crossover voters will be harshly punished. Then DO IT.
The Dem leadership in the Senate, House, and DNC needs to be purged, and replaced with Democratic Warriors. If you aren't willing to go to war against the MAGA Nazis, then you must resign, and make way for someone who will fight.

If reciprocal enforcement can allow Texas to force NY to follow their laws, then why can't NY force Texas to provide abortions?
This is basically an extension of the law that compelled non-slave states to return escaped slaves to the owners in Southern states.
No state should be compelled to follow an immoral law in another state. Texas can't force NY to refuse to treat a patient, any more than NY can force Texas to provide an abortion.
I have my doubts, too, but until they decide to go full on dictatorship, I'm going to keep assuming it's business as usual.
If they cancel elections, though, that's a bright red line that they are crossing. At that point, America no longer exists, and I am under no obligation to follow its laws or pay taxes.
In the olden days in Europe, medicine was almost exclusively the responsibility of the religious leaders, since a large portion of medicine is death, and death is a religion's bread & butter.
High-ranking people knew to supplement their monk doctors with a military-experienced battlefield medic, who knew how to treat serious injuries with actual medical treatment, and not just prayers.
The Methodist Church has always been staunchly anti-gay. Some are trying to change it, but the bigotry remains.
Advent owns most of the Hospitals and urgent care facilities in my area. Walking through the hospital, there are a constant religious references. One has a huge painting of a person dying in bed, their family and doctor gathered around, with a brightly painted and shining Jesus among them.
I've got a problem with a hospital who still considers divine intervention to be a viable medical strategy. What is this, the fucking Middle Ages?

DeLorean was not smuggling drugs to keep his company alive. As his company was tanking, he agreed to do a large drug deal, hoping to use the profits to keep the doors open a bit longer, but it turned out to be an entrapment scheme, and he was found not guilty.
He basically tried the same thing that the Reagan Administration did during the Iran-Contra Scandal, but he got caught because the people who talked him into it were cops. But the idea that the DeLorean company was fueled by drug money is wrong.
The media used to invent positive stories about Tesla, but now they are only looking for negative stories. For a stock whose entire value is based on a stock price supported by smoke and PR, that's a death sentence. Now that the bubble has popped, it will never re-inflate. Now Tesla has to fly based on the actual performance of its products, it's company, and it's leadership, which is abysmal on all counts. It will never return to its former glory, and will continue to slide as each quarterly earnings report gets worse and worse.
I give Tesla 2 years before it declares bankruptcy.
